About the author

Ian Knight, BA, FRGS is a historian, author, battlefield guide and artifacts specialist internationally regarded as a leading authority on the nineteenth-century history of the Zulu kingdom, and in particular the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879. He has a degree in Afro-Caribbean Studies from the University of Kent and has been researching and writing for more than thirty years. He has published over forty books and monographs, the majority of them on Zulu history and the rest on other nineteenth-century British colonial campaigns. He has appeared on-screen in a number of television documentaries. He is an Honorary Research Associate of the KwaZulu-Natal Museum in Pietermaritzburg.

Мне кажется народы Индийского субконтинента и Афганистана заслуживают собственных книг, но здесь они просто "Враги королевы Виктории №3". Конечно британское издательство и они британоцентричны (в стиле : Средневековье=английский длинный лук!), но всё же это как-то совсем однобоко. Хорошо про цвета штанов, отличные иллюстрации. Например, очень позабавили Королевские гвардейцы Афганской армии "хайлендеры", которые были одеты как шотландцы в килтах. Такой карго-культ, но не совсем. Вообще удивительно, что Афганистан так довольно рано начал модернизацию и быстро сделал полу-европейскую армию, но с тех пор особо по этому пути не ушёл. Остальные описания кратки и не много дают, так что надо узнавать в более специфических изданиях. Вроде сейчас "Аспри" начали печатать что-то по Моголам.
