My daughter was recently diagnosed with Graves' disease and one of the questions I had concerned diet. Were there foods I should serve more often? Less often? Is there a diet specifically designed to support the nutrional needs of someone with an overactive thyroid?

Unfortunately, what I've learned is the lower carb diet we've adopted to keep the kids' blood glucose levels more stable (they are type 1 diabetics) is not hyperthyroid friendly. And the recipes in this book aren't really kid-friendly. However, that wasn't the book's target audience and thyroid issues are less common among kids so I can't hold that against the book, either.

What gave it four stars was a few pages in the beginning that had handy lists for me:
~How the right diet can help
~Dietary suggestions for a healthy lifestyle
~foods to avoid

I would love to see a book like this that is dedicated to hyperthyroidism only instead of sharing pages with hypothyroidism but this was a good start.

Having been diagnosed with hypothyroidism in early 2013, I wanted information about foods that interfere with medications and/or were contraindicated with the disease. This book clearly divided information and recipes for hypo-and hyper-thryoidism, which was very helpful. I would have given it 5 stars had they included the nutritional breakdowns with the recipes (calories, carbs, sodium, etc.).
