The little red hen and the grains of wheat is about a little red hen who needs a help. First she needs help with planting grains of wheat, she calls out to the other animals on the farm. But they are too busy to help so she ends up planting the wheat by herself. When the wheat grows the wheat is ready to cut, she asks the animals to help her cut the wheat, but they are too busy, so she cuts the wheat herself. The wheat was then ready to thresh, she asks the other animals for help but they are too busy again. So little red hen thresh the wheats herself. She then needs help to take the threshed wheat to the mill to grind, so she asks the other animals for help. But they are too busy. So she takes the thresh wheat to the mill all by herself. She then ask the other animals to help her take the flour o the bakery. But again they were too busy. Then the bread was ready she takes the freshly baked bread back to the farm, she asked her friends would they help her eat the bread, this time they are not too busy. But then little red hen instead invites the miller and the baker to help her eat the bread.
This is a good story to read to young children to help them understand how important it is to help others so that they will in return help them too when they need the help. The story has a moral to understand, the moral is that it is good to help others. If the animals had helped the little red hen, she would have given the animals some of her bread that she made. If you do not help others they may not feel like helping you too.
This book is good for young readers to read by themselves. Allot of repetition is in the book so very young children can join in to make reading more pleasurable. One of the thigs I enjoyed about the book are the illustrations they were very bold and colourful to capture the attention of the targeted audience (4-11 years of age). The repeated sentences in the story also makes it easy to read by young children to read to themselves.
