A great and simple way to get to grips with telling the time for early years students. Large bold print and minimal words are easily legible and the pictures are helpful in facilitating work recognition and comprehension. It is especially straightforward as the reader is able to relate the activities of the Mr Wolf at the different times, in accordance to their own daily routines.

There is a developing feeling of anticipation as the reader is warned to watch out for Mr Fox at mealtimes, as he is ready to pounce. This creates a sense of excitement and is great in keeping the young children’s attention if conveying the book as a class read. Overall’ a great introduction to telling the time!

'What's the time Mr Wolf?' is a child friendly book which features a funny wolf. Throughout this book we go through the various different hours of the day and the different things we do during the day. At the start of the book we start from 7o'clock where Mr Wolf has to get out of bed. The book ends at 6 o'clock when it is time for Mr Wolf's bedtime. The book is filled with colourful illustrations and large font. The repetition of “What's the time Mr Wolf?” is very catchy and can engage young children. This book allows children not only to build in confidence, but to also have a better understanding of time and routines. Each page features a clock-face. I believe that young children will really enjoy reading this book. I would recommend it to children of one to three years.
