Joe Borgenicht is an internationally recognized writer and entrepreneur who, at the age of 48, finally feels like he knows enough to say something of value.
Interesting approach that may appeal especially to guys or engineers. The book is written kind of like a help book for a new appliance or software programme. The activities are sorted for different developmental stages and there's a cool appendix at the back of nursery rhymes/songs.
Unlike The Baby Owner's Manual: Operating Instructions, Trouble-Shooting Tips & Advice on First-Year Maintenance, which I thought was a fantastic primer for the expecting parent, this feels phoned in. It's really thin, for one thing, about half the size of the Owner's Manual, and that's already half-pages. Most of the games themselves are games everyone knows, not given their proper name. "Look out the window and say what you see". That sure sounds like "I spy"...
I would say avoid, but it looks pretty on the shelf beside the companion volume, and I am a sucker for such things.
Finally, The Baby Owner’s Games and Activities Book by Lynn Rosen and Joe Borgenight offers a wide variety of activities to do with a baby and is grouped by specific age ranges to ensure proper development. Again, this reference guide offers a fun and non-clinical look at development. Surprisingly, I found myself doing some of the activities outside our daughter’s age range, but she seemed to just go with the flow and gobble up the knowledge. The age ranges are not hard and fast rules/categories.
This books gives unique ideas to parents about playing games and interacting with their children. I am a fan of turning off the television and actually playing with and educating my child. This book was given as a gift and I love it. I have many infant activity books and this one provided ideas that did not come up in all my other books.
A funny and VERY practical hands-on guide with diagrams and all. Not easy to find, but worth every penny!!! Todd loved it-her read it in the hospital while I was in labor...
I liked it. Sure I could not try everything in there (have plans for later) but it gives you a good starting point for interaction that I liked very much.
