Can love survive anything?

Thomas is torn between saving a past love and protecting the woman in his present. Traveling to Africa to save his wife’s life, he leaves his ménage unprotected against political forces that will stop at nothing to destroy the black ops organization he works for—even if it means attacking women and children.

On the day she thought her greatest challenge was going to be interviewing nannies, Celia finds herself chased by thugs. In order to survive she must evolve from Kitten to Tigress to protect not only her unborn, but also Thomas’s four young children.

On the run and without either Master or Lord Fyre to protect her, the question is where Celia’s journey will end.

I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to read this book, even though my classes resumed this morning at 8:30am...

I am so glad I did.

Here's my take on this series:

Sacred Secrets AMAZING and a great intro into "the world"...

Sacred Revelations PIVOTAL and RIVETING. Book 2 really develops the menage.

Unholy Promises NECESSARY. Yes its a little jarring, we're sucked away from the menage for a moment but it shows us that Lord Fyre really does have two distinct lives...

Echo of Redemption PROGRESSION. No relationship is stagnant. Haven't you ever wondered what happens after 'and they lived happily ever after?' This book really lets us in. What a roller coaster ride of emotion!

Cries of Redemption CONCLUSION. I hate series with no end in sight. Roxy hasn't given me that. I feel completion, closure. That doesn't mean I will forget these characters...I will NEVER forget these characters.

and now I've learned there is a Book 6: Vow of Silence...not about the menage but set in the world of the menage. Is that disappointing? no way! I'm really looking forward to it. I think I've found my new favorite author.

This was definitely one of the better books in this series. I have to say that except for the first book I always end up feeling bad for Garrett. I feel like he's the one that always gets screwed in the menage. Ever since Kitten spent that 3 months with Lord Fyre she has out right favored him over Garrett. It seems to me that Garrett is the one who always has to do the compromising and Lord Fyre always gets his way. Kitten always says how she's so in love with Thomas and that he's her everything, and Thomas always goes on about how much he loves his Sophie(only really talks about his love for Gar when there together). It's almost like they just keep Garrett around for when Lord Fyre takes off for some bullshit reason or another. Garrett's the one who is stuck trying to hold Kitten together from nervous breakdowns.

I thought that it was interesting that either Garrett or Kitten cared that the guy they both love only came back to see them after months of separation to drop his kids off for them to take care of. I mean I would be annoyed by that.(Hey guys haven't seen you in x amount of months but can you watch my kids while i go try n find my ex.) Or just the fact that everyone else always seems to be more important then them. He only sticks around for a few months and then he runs off to "help" someone else who's more important. Another thing that irks me is that Thomas is suppose to be so head over heels in love with Gar n Sophie but when ever his isn't with them he's fucking anyone around, Eva, Abigail.

I liked that Kitten finally stopped being such a fucking cry baby and was able to find some inner strength when she was delivering her twins. (Even though the who birthing scene was completely unrealistic) I don't know about anyone else but she was totally getting on my nerves the last few books.

I really wished roxy developed more of a story with Thomas' brother and Morgana. I enjoyed hearing how Gar and Morgana met and how their relationship blossomed. I also would have liked to see more of how Gar's transformation from master to Lord Ice and how it worked with the menage not just between him and kitten.

Dodie's Review

I don't like normally starting to read a series in the middle. Sometimes, I don't realize from the blurb when I request a book that it is a series (and not the first one either). Sometimes, I know, but I'm intrigued by the description and want to see if its a series worth reading. Cries of Penance turns out to be the fifth book in the series, and is a great example of how to write a stand alone book, even as the fifth book in a series. As I read the book, I could tell that the characters had a history together, but I wasn't lost and confused because I hadn't read the earlier books. Instead, Roxy Harte has her characters remember things that had happened previously, mentioning things that were important without obviously rehashing earlier scenes.

Thomas' past threatens to destroy his menage and his future. This is an action packed, suspenseful ride, as Thomas tries to save his wife in Africa. Celia and Garret are threatened by the bad guys in his absence. This is Celia's story as she grows and becomes a strong character. This book is also the story of Thomas, Garret, and Celia's menage finding a better balance. Not having read all the previous books, I don't know how strong of a foundation they had before. But it is a very entertaining read as they go through the journey.

I liked this book so much, I went right out and bought the first one in the series so that I could see where it all began.

An amazing ending to an amazing series

I have read each book in this series and fallen in love with each character. It is very kink oriented but I love that too. This book was the perfect end.

It was nice to see in the end this relationship working. Garrett was never my favorite for Kitten and I was relieved to see some soul searching honesty from him. I thought that was especially poignant when he was sharing his feelings with Thomas regarding the future and the menage and he said in the end Kitten wasn't going to be enough and he would need more. I felt like he realized he too wasn't enough for Kitten either. Thomas was the glue. However, I was shocked that Garrett was willing to make all the sacrifices, that Thomas was demanding. I wasn't sure about Garrett until the very end. Kitten grew a "set" in the end....I like them on her. She could be strong and submissive, weak was never attractive on her.

My only eye roll...the twin pregnancy. I had twins and I'm not buying the delivery nor how much "energy" she had right up until she went into labor. I know that every pregnacy is different, but I think multiple birth is something difficult to write unless you have actually experienced it.

All in all, a entertaining series.

I really enjoyed this book. More than the other books in the series, this one made a serious effort to confront the complications of the relationship. I'd like to see a similar relationship exploration without the backdrop of international espionage. There's enough complication in a menage relationship without needing to add a layer of spies and witness protection to the mix.

I also really wanted to see more of the developing relationship between Nikos and Morgana. The book was relatively short and there definitely could have been more exploration of this relationship before it was dropped by sending Nikos back into the spy world.

This was such a cool installment in the series! And while the whole birth of the twins scene was a little unbelieveable I wanted it to happen the way that it did so bad that I was willing to overlook it. Normally I'm not crazy about the switching between narrarators but this time there was enough hapening with every character that I didn't really mind. I loved how everything ended up with Garret, Celia, Thomas, and the children. I would have loved to hear more about Nikkos and Morgana but I guess that will have to wait for another book. I'm hoping anyway...

And it goes out with a BANG! Fantastic and fitting end for Thomas/Fyre, Garrett/Ice, and Kitten. Finally Kitten grows up and how she has her babies is so freakin' good. Even Garrett manages to grow a pair and he's headed back to the Garrett we all know and love AND back to Ice as well. Yeah baby. And Thomas/Lex/Fyre - what can I say I already love him and this book just reinforces why. I don't care if there are follow ups that ever mention my favorite menage again but I would like other efforts with some of the characters - for me I am satisfied with how this one ended and I can move on.

This was a great book. There were tense parts to this one that I loved. There were parts that made me cry. I love books that can do that to me.

The way this book ended I really am anxious for the next book to come out.

I DNF'd, so no rating. I will say this was a challenge I set for myself and thus wwaaaayyyy out of my comfort zone, but I could see the appeal for someone who likes fairly hardcore (to me) BDSM. Writing was good, no stiff dialogue or anything like that.
