I received this book for free from the publisher in return for a review. The following is my honest opinion on this book:

Learning your times tables can be hard as a child and I know I struggled to learn them at school. But with the help of this clever pop-up book, kids and even some adults can have a lot of fun while learning their multiplications.

On the first page there is an introduction to all the characters you’ll meet in this book. With the help of Trixie Tricks, Tim Times and many others each number in the twelve times tables will be introduced one by one. Every double page spread covers one or two numbers. On each page there are lots of fun and colourful illustrations along with lots of flaps to open, tabs to pull and 3D pop-up scenes. Apart from the incredible fun you can have by just pulling the tabs, etc you actually learn at the same time and it’s made easy and fun.
Learning the two times table for example is all about counting the numbers animals hold while going into the ark and multiplying them by two. A tab on the side not only pulls the animals slowly into the ark but also shows the answers to each equation.

I’ve always loved pop-up books and this one doesn’t disappoint. It’s so fun to just look at all the illustrations and play with the pop-up features of this book but apart from that it’s also educational and I’m sure plenty of adults would love to play and even use the book along side the kids.

The book ends with an explosive twelve times tables and a grid showing off all the tables up to twelve so kids can test how good they are or refer to it later. This is such a fun book and a great way of helping kids learn in an entertaining way. A great book I can recommend. (pictures available on my website or amazon)

Wow - Fantastic Times Tables Pop-Up Book

Thank you to the publisher Walker books for my ARC (Advance Review Copy) which was sent to me free with no obligation to review.

I'll be honest in that if I could give this pop up book more than 5 stars I truly would as I am incredibly impressed with it. I am now keeping my eyes out to see if any of the authors other books (aside from The Great Grammar Book as we also have that book) are published as it looks like the author published quite a few of these pop up books a few years ago and that they are now being updated and re-released.

If there is any way that a child is going to learn anything then surely it has been proven to be by encouragement and fun (I'm not in education as my profession just to make this clear and so I'm not speaking for that profession) and this pop up book is incredibly fun. I requested this to review thinking of my oldest child but my youngest child is also completely enamoured with this and the grammar book and so already it has proven to be a big hit. I only have to consider some of the things my eldest has learnt through unrecognised teaching elements such as STEM from the Blaze and the Monster Machines cartoon to know that fun is the way to go. My son is a little too young for the book at the moment and so this is being popped away to keep it safe until he is a little older.

I would never ever normally video review a book but with the movable features I felt this may be a good thing to show and so I have attached a video and some photos to my Amazon review to show the book. I originally recorded the whole book and each page but I then realised this may lead to some sort of copyright infringement and so I've shortened the attached video down so apologies for any jumpy transitions.

The book teaches the times tables up to 12 which is the standard amount learnt at schools. I have actually learnt a very easy way to do the 9 times table from this book that was not taught to me when I went to school and which is really easy to do on your hands once you know about it and so the book has also taught an adult something new!

As an adult I am honestly hand on heart blown away by the detail in this book and the pop up element and sliding, pulling etc but it is the educational element that really shines through the fun.

Wow. This book blew me away! A thoroughly well-deserved five stars.

This hardcover times tables book is divided into twelve sections, one page for each number of the times tables and is riddled with colour, creatures, pop up bits, tabs to pull, flaps to turn and interaction. I genuinely can't fault it.

The layout works well and provides a sort of staging for your child - it's ideal for taking breaks when you can tell they've had too much or when you want to come back to a certain struggling point. I love the jumble of colours and activity on each page - there is so much going on with various interactions for kids to test themselves; it's also great that the answers aren't immediately available so they have to go searching for them if they can't find them.

The book is sturdy enough. The tabs/pulleys aren't flimsy so could easily withstand a bit of a battering instead of becoming dog-eared or ripped almost immediately! Number 3 is probably the least robust as the giant pop up makes it a little trickier to get to the smaller flaps so could be easily damaged.

Each page has a different theme as well as a different number. Number 4 for instance is a picnic blanket which vampires and lunch boxes which need the lids taking off to do your sums. I really loved the thought that's gone into this - the recurring characters are all introduced to you at the beginning so you can also be on the hunt for them as well and count how many times you see them.

I can't fault this book. It's fantastic. It is simple, and definitely more suitable for those just starting out. The writing isn't overly large but is simplified so perhaps not ideal for those already well into learning their sums. A beautifully illustrated, thoughtful and highly interactive way to learn. Definitely lives up to it's "Terrific" Title.

This product was provided to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review; this in no way influenced my opinions.

Beautifully made, but gets a bit repetitive by the end.
