Die-cut pages make a delightfully interactive Halloween! Fun masks to try on the girl and boy characters show the spirit of Halloween to the youngest readers. On the following pages, toddlers can "carve" their own jack-o'-lantern by flipping the die-cut pages to change the pumpkin's face. What's behind the double doors? A Halloween party with treats galore!
I first saw this on the Toys R Us web site, then was happy to skim it at Kmart while enjoying their impressive Halloween book display. Out of the several board book options, I chose to get Natalie this one because it has the most interesting flaps. She has other books that are hide and seek games, but this one has masks and jack'o'lanterns with cut outs. She LOVES sticking her fingers in the holes in The Very Hungry Caterpillar, so I know she will get the most enjoyment out of this one. She also enjoys faces, and this has tons of them.
Halloween Faces is a wonderful book to get kids in the mood for dressing up on Halloween. All sorts of masks for the characters to try on and set the mood. I would mostly recommend this book for younger children, which is what seems to be intended anyway. This book will be on our shelves for many years to come!
I think I like it better than my 28 month old did. I borrowed it from our library to get her into the mood for Halloween. I don't think I'd buy it or recommend it to another parent. It was just an okay book. She was very scared of Halloween mask especially last year and this year it doesn't seem to be a problem this year.
