National best seller! All children are special! This book is the perfect tool to help them cherish their individuality. This warm, colorful book is designed to inspire the imagination. The jovial message and adorable artwork convey a sense of strong self-worth to children, enhancing their self-esteem.
The Afro-American version of this book is my go-to book for every child. It's a great book about self-acceptance. It's getting hard to find and kinda expensive but it's definitely worth it if you can find one at a reasonable price. Right now a used, like new, version of the Afro-American book is $72, so keep that in mind.
This book is a religious writing but is very cutely written. It highlights different aspects of us that God gave us and why. This book is a simple and fun way of showing kids how much God loves us.
This delightful little book encourages young children that we are all significant in the eyes of God.
I'm reading this story to the 4 year old class at the preschool in my church. I appreciate that the author illustrated the book (printed in 1988) both for "Afro-American" children as well as "white" children. Two separate versions.
The illustrations are in bold primary colors that catch a child's eye.
Apparently, no longer in print but perhaps available at some on-line book sellers.
Designed by God, So I Must Be Special is a book that tells young readers how and why God made them who they are. The illustrations consist of cute stick figures that represent happy children. The images have been created to look as if a child has drawn them, which is very relatable to any kid who reads this book. This book presents a very positive and uplifting theme, which is self-esteem.
Designed by God, So I Must Be Special is published by Character Builders, which is what the goal of the story is...to help build up children's character. It teaches children that they should love and have respect for the God that created them both inside and out! My favorite says "He gave me my body so that I could be free to experience this world around you and me" (p. 11).
I love this book! I would recommend it to any young reader with a Christian background. It is a great book in terms of explaining how and why God created them to exist in the world.
This book gives feelings of warmth and caring re-enforces that we are made special by our creator God. The colors are bold and vibrant and whenever a child tells me someone hurts his/her feelings we read this book to remind them that we are all special. A good moral booster.
