Beginner's Guide to Silk Ribbon Embroidery

Rate this book
More than 100 step-by-step photographs show how to create exquisite, delicately embroidered silk ribbon flowers, using a surprisingly small number of stitches. Crafters can also learn how to paint and stencil the silk fabric backgrounds, add depth and interest to a garden scene, or enhance a still-life arrangement.

Ann Cox is the queen of ribbon embroidery, for good reason. I adore her focus on photorealistic flowers and plants. This is a great place to start for the novice.

After an introduction to types of ribbons, needles, fabric, and stitches, the book provides flowers that use similar stitches. Photos are enlarged and instructions are simple to follow. The book is helpful in thinking about a framed project.

Pretty patterns, interesting presentation. Sadly ignores the pressing problem of how not to get your fingers tangled up in the ribbon while you are doing it.
