Wallace Amos Jr. was an American television personality, businessman and author. He was the founder of the Famous Amos chocolate chip cookie, the Cookie Kahuna, and Aunt Della's Cookies gourmet cookie brands, and he was the host of the adult reading program Learn to Read.

I worked with Wally's son, Michael, at a corporation in Dallas for many years. Michael and I decided to surprise Wally one time when he was back in Dallas. We arranged for me to show up as a “mystery guest” at lunch. When I peeked in the lobby of the restaurant, there sat Wally in a hand-painted ‘Uncle Noname’ denim shirt and a ballcap with chocolate chip cookies painted on it. When he caught sight of me and lit up with that blazing smile of his, I felt like I’d been hugged by a spotlight. We shared news and laughter over lunch. Afterwards, Wally passed out words of thanks along with bags of his cookies to an appreciative restaurant staff.

An ambassador of joy who touches peoples’ hearts while satisfying their tummies, where Wally goes, smiles follow. His book is no exception. It is an inspirational message full of hope and joy, and a must read for everyone who wants to be hugged by a spotlight bright smile and a genuine love for people.

Visited the Chip store while in Honolulu in July 2010 and picked up this book. Good human being who had to experience corporate greed. Does not pay to be nice in business at times. Reinforces my belief in having and maintaining good friendships.
