3 1/2 Stars! ~ Fifteen months ago, Sydney left Cannon because her feelings for Jarod could never be returned. She needed to move on with her life as best she could. As a priest, Jarod agonizes over the only decision he can make and that is to leave the priesthood. Once made, Jarod has trouble convincing Sydney that he's made the right choice and that he will have no regrets. Sydney's overcome with guilt, blaming herself for causing Jarod to turn his back on his calling.

Jarod is a very well developed character. You can feel the turmoil within him. He struggles with Sydney's insecurities and in my opinion, immaturity. I'm sure Ms. Winters meant to portray Sydney as a woman who grew up in a strong morally proper family, and because of this she had difficulty trusting Jarod's love for her would always come first. Unfortunately, for me Sydney often came across as too needy and immature. That's sad, because Jarod deserves much much better. Ms. Winters did a great job handling this difficult situation. She covered many different points of view on this and the conclusions were very satisfying.

I believe I picked this one from the back cover teaser. There is always something about a forbidden love that draws our interest. I know many would find this subject to be offensive, but Ms. Winters handles it tastefully with compassion and understanding. I'm glad my interest was sparked to read this heartwarming story.

The hero is a........ PRIEST?!!! I had to read the cover blurb 3 times to make sure I read that correctly. Heck yeah I have to read this book, lol! This was a first for me! So how was it? Id give it a 3.75 stars. I think the author really tackled the forbidden love (yeah DEFINITELY FORBIDDEN!!) well as well as the whole faith, angst, commitment and all that . And the story didn't feel dirty /yucky. don't worry hero doesn't do the ungodly thing because that would totally make him rot in hell. He really was a commendable person. As for the heroine she annoyed me a bit because she was a little overboard and so DUHHH (?!!) I mean here she was obsessing over the hero and when she finally gets him she freaking thinks too much. Hello your fans came true, enjoy it! I mean the guy just did this supreme sacrifice DUHHH of course he's going to be in it for keeps!! (deep breath!) anyhoo I thought the story was sweet but as usual /as I've discovered sadly it was so sweet that there was no super errrr lovemaking /consummation that I oft enjoy in my other HP novels :P it looks like that's the author's style. A sweet and interesting book that I'll go back to reading a few times in a year.

The heroine Sydney Taylor is weak in character, is dominated by both her parents and the hero Jarod Kendall. In my opinion, Jarod, an ex-priest mind, is a bully. The story and the characters are so unbelievable. For example, Sydney's parents' rather sudden change of heart. In general, I'm not really into the religious and the second-guessing moral issues. Annoyingly repetitious.
