great sci fi story!
The Fall of Mu is engrossing from the start. Michael Floyd, whose father was the last Guardian of Mu, commands our attention as he strives to keep his people alive after the hideous fall of Mu. He’s a marshal on the planet of Yffordd, where the remains of his people slave for precious metals for the conquering Empire. This was a well-written novel that transports the reader between civilizations: one, empathetic and compassionate; another, greedy and controlling. The struggle between the two is on an intergalactic scale combined with otherworldly vines of resource and wisdom, and dwarves, keepers of the old ways, set against a backdrop of a repressed population intent on survival. The author has woven philosophical threads through a unique science fiction story. Indeed, this is the first book of a series. Any true sci fi reader will enjoy this original story by author R. Halderman. I look forward to subsequent books!

As I read it I got the distinct impression I was in the middle the action right along with the characters.
I really enjoyed the word-building. This was full of banter and conversation the progress of which built the interactions with the characters.
Well written and engrossing til the very end.

This was a really interesting take. The main character is interesting and compelling.
The book was excellent, the story was exciting and enthralling, and the writing was pretty good as well.
If you enjoy science fiction you have to read this. So much going on in terms of sci-fi.

The immense creativity spills over throughout the book. It's vividly conceived, and the strong plot will carry readers to the end.
