The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania is a nonprofit corporation formed in 1884 under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, U.S.A. It is used by Jehovah’s Witnesses to support their worldwide work, which includes publishing Bibles and Bible-based literature.
According to its charter, the corporation’s purposes are “religious, educational, and charitable,” in particular, to “preach and teach the gospel of God’s Kingdom under Christ Jesus.” Membership in the corporation is by invitation only and is not based on how much a person has donated. The corporation members and directors assist the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
"I tell you today you will be with Me in paradise"
4 Water baptism is a requirement for all who want to have a relationship with Jehovah God.
Remember Luke 23:43....?? The guy that hung next to Jesus... he was'nt baptised..!! How can the watchtower organization claim that water baptism is a requirement..??
Is this just wishful thinking or a dream? Does the bible or holy scriptures really predict this? What are some basic biblical teachings? All these questions and more are answered and the illustrations are gorgeous.
Merged review:
I loved the topics and illustrations tho' I prefer the depth of the previous Bible study guide "The Truth that Leads to Everlasting Life".
It says it's "a comprehensive yet easy to understand guide to Biblical understanding." On page 154 it talks about the 1914 failed prophecy by the Jehovah Witness Organization. Even in the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (a translation only used by JWs, no other religion uses this translation as it has many differences than ALL other translations) it says in Deuteronomy 18:22 "When a prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not oocur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. (However, the Watchtower continued with many more failed prophecies. How many failed prophecies is needed to identify someone that is not of God? Deuteronomy tells us..just ONE.) In their Awake Magazine (the October 8, 1968 edition page 23, they admit they are guilty of false prophesying. On page 193 this book tells us that only through Watchtower can we understand divine truth. This book, along with every other publication by the Watchtower organization, helps us to understand this is indeed false teaching. Here's something to think about; 2 Timothy 2:15 tells us to study to show ourselves approved. Think about this...experts in counterfeit money don’t spend their time studying counterfeits. They study the real currency. In the same way we should study the Word of God (any translation other than the New World Translation which is a perverted translation to promote a false teaching) so we can tell a counterfeit when it is presented to us.
"You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth", was the main publication of the Society for use in conducting home Bible studies. It was replaced by the "Knowledge Book", and is no longer in print. I still remember the day that it was release back in 1983. I was sitting up in the 700 level at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia with my family and John Barr was the speaker. How we loved reading and studying this book and then sharing it with our neighbors. The words in it still ring true and the artwork is beautiful.
The questions leave no room for interpretation - though some of the Biblical analysis was really interesting. Some dangerous views on who does and doesn't have worth
This book absolutely terrified me as a young child. I would have many nightmares about Armageddon and my non JW Grandmother being killed and eaten by birds. This book would be used on a Tuesday book study with JW's to indoctrinate us over and over again. They seemed to relish this one, the Revelation Book and The Greatest Man who ever lived book.
Read this book 5 times and I remember the pictures the most, because a picture tells a thousand words. My favourite picture was the one with fire raining down on people. Those images stay with you for life and causes a fear response, even today.
Truly a wonderful book if you want to scare the living bejesus out of people.
This was an okay book and it had very nice illustrations. I'm not sure I believe everything the Jehovah Witnesses' believe, but it was interesting to learn what their beliefs actually are.
I read this book many, many times back in the 1980s. It answers basic and some of the more complicated questions people have about Bible teachings. The answers are found after a thorough search of your own copy of a Bible. You will read your own answers to questions by the use of scriptures. The illustrations are beautiful and enjoyable to meditate on, adding much to the learning process. Nowadays we can all access the free resources and more uptodate books on the publisher's website directly at www.jw.org You will also find fabulous instrumental and vocal music to listen to or download. Try the site out. You will enjoy it very much. You can learn as much as you want to, no charge, no pressure, private study at your own pace. With best wishes! Again, go to jw.org
Yes, it's actually the images. The book is full of well-drawn art.
It's funny, however, because sometimes its attacks on Catholicism are laughably bad, especially in the context of the Pope right now.
I don't really have to say that this is propaganda. In addition, this is something I disagree with in particular:
The idea of the Trinity is, indeed, more implicit than explicitly written, but I have not found even any implicit link between Adam and Jesus within the Bible, other than the fact that Jesus was a descendant of Adam, which is easy to conclude since he was the first man on earth. The Archangel Michael as Jesus also left a bad taste in my mouth, since it's also no means even implicitly suggested in the Bible.
The theodicy of this book is all right, though.
The drawings, however, are this book's only saving grace.
