Halloween is here! It’s time for all the neighborhood children to put on their costumes, march in a Halloween parade, have fun at a party, and head out for some trick-or-treating. This exuberantly rhymed celebration of Halloween includes two sheets of stickers.
Although by the time I am reading this book, Halloween has just passed, it was still a really cute and relateable book. Monster Parade talks about all the things that you do around Halloween time, it talks about carving pumpkins, eating candy, finding a costume, dressing up and then, most importantly, going trick-or-treating. I loved this book because it didn't show princesses or superheroes like most costumes are, it shows round, scary and snuggly monster costumes. This book took the reader through the night of trick-or-treating where everyone is really excited and then after walking around for a while, they get tired and want to go home. Monster Parade is a perfect to have in the classroom while working on fluency and comprehension, it is a level two step into reading so it is a little challenging, but students would be able to read it no problem with practice. I love providing books like this in a classroom because they are so fun as an adult and student to read.
It's a cute Halloween book about monsters big and small. Silly monsters and furry monsters. Monsters parade door to door to trick-or-treat! "Sleepy monsters tucked in tight." I bought this book for my future classroom because it is a cute Halloween book that relates to the children's experience of celebrating Halloween!
A solid story time book about Halloween from a child's perspective, from creating costumes, to trick-or-treating, to heading home again. A great introduction to this kids' high holiday, it is perfect for sharing with small groups of toddlers through kindergartners.
A well-rhymed Halloween romp for preschoolers, perfect for learning to read on their own. The simple story straightforward with no surprises feels a lot like a daily reading curriculum. Which I guess it should. Unfortunately, the illustrations add very little to the text.
This was a pretty cute book for children between preschool and first grade. It's a fun little rhyming book about monsters that are in reality just children trick-or-treating. The colors are really great and pleasing to look at. The pictures are more fun when they get into the illustrations of the monsters, the people are less amazing. But, the monsters are super adorable. There isn't really a story here, so much as a rhyme about monsters. The basic plot is that some kids go trick-or-treating, but then they get tired so they go home and sleep. What's fun about this book is that is helps kids learn to read and it's got a sweet Halloween theme.
This is a story one can read to a prekindergarten class. The text is almost rhymes and has a song like quality to it. I think the students will also enjoy the vivid color in the illustrations.
