Growing up in North West England and in Germany, Anna wrote plays about talking animals, and stories about naughty children, and drew on every available surface. After school, she did an Art Foundation course, then a degree in German Literature & Philosophy at Oxford University. A little introduction to the life cycles of butterflies with bright and colorful illustrations.

This is simple but it does cover the basics. I can see kids who like colorful pictures picking this up just for the illustrations and colorful butterflies throughout.

The Butterfly book has amazing illustrations. The book starts off with a caterpillar in the garden and a boy finding him. The caterpillar eats all day and pretty soon begins to grow. Once the caterpillar stops eating he curls up into a ball and becomes a shiny case. Soon the caterpillar becomes a butterfly. The butterfly is very colorful and flies around with all of his friends. This book does a good job of explaining what happens to a caterpillar. This would be perfect for an insect unit. One activity a teacher could do is have a caterpillar in a container and watch the changes and see it change into a butterfly.
