Pros - Makes it very easy to design a sweater that you would have a hard time finding in a book. Good, clear directions.

Cons - Written in 8 point font, not a plus with a knitting pattern. Makes it very easy for the unwary or fashion-impaired to design a freak sweater. Rowan yarns are used to make up the demo sweaters, which is expensive, so substitutions are almost a given.

I actually crunched the math on this once, just to see if there really were 1000 possible sweaters. I got as far as the first body shape, calculating 616 possibilities. Of course, discounting the question of pockets, it came out to only 56, but considering you start with a choice of 31 different bodies, 1000 sweaters are not out of the question.

This books lets you mix and match different parts of sweater designs, using different bodies, sleeves, and necklines to suit your style. All the patterns use worsted weight yarn, which makes switching pattern elements painless (and best of all) math-free. On the surface, the book doesn't look super fancy, but if you like sweater-knitting, I highly recommend it.

This is like one of those books you played with as a kid where you got to choose a head, body and legs to make some odd creature. You can choose different styles and parts and put together your very own sweater.
