Sad, but great book to have read. It gives many accounts of animal rescues in the late 1990's.

After reading another book like this (about Hurricane Katrina) & this one... I feel like I'd like to volunteer for a rescue group like this when I retire in a few years.

In a world where we hear about the bad behavior of many people, this book gives hope for humanity that there are still caring, wonderful people out there that will give of their time & resources to help those in need (both people & animals).

A powerful, well-written book. Everyone needs to make a plan for their animals in case of a disaster. I read some of the most disturbing stuff I have read pertaining to animals (excluding things that are done to "food" animals in developed countries) in this book.

Don't leave your animals behind. Get out and out early. Don't have more animals than you can evacuate with. Have a plan.
