Darbar E Dil/

Rate this book
Meher Sami is a simple girl who prays five times a day, fasts in the month of Ramadan, doesn't lie and considers love 'a waste of time.' She is proud of the fact that her prayers are always listened upon by Allah; and pays no attention to what her friends have to say about love. Meanwhile her friends, while trying to change her modest views, are also jealous of her ability to devote her life so completely to Allah without a care about the world. Life takes a sharp turn, when she gets involved with a boy unintentionally.
Darbar-e-Dil (English: Court of Love) is the story of transformation of one’s soul. Unlike the change for betterment this transformation is from good to bad. It was published in Khawateen Digest first.

"Aur insan shar ko is tarah mangta hai jaise khair ko, aur beshak insaan bohot jald baaz waqai hua hai" Surah Bani Israel.

honestly I could totally get what Umera was trying to portray, because being in college I see people like mehr everywhere, aisa sach mai hota hai, insaan kabhi bhi kissi bhi umar mai bataq sakta hai.

Love is the most beautiful thing exist on earth. But what if, the person you love is the worst person on earth?

A girl who cursed the nature for a fault of her own. A girl who was saved from a path which could have made her life a misery.

What if, the person you love the most was the person you should have hated the most?

A story that strengthen your faith and narrates a message that, sometimes, something you are cursing the most was the best thing ever happened to you.

In Darbar-e-Dil, Umera Ahmed emphasized the power of prayers in which help is sought from God.
She discussed human eagerness to want something without knowing the fact that human mind is full of flaws, hasten towards its goals and try to find logic in all the events happened to him and around.

What I liked about this book is that it asks its readers to pray not what they want but pray what is good for them and not dwell if it appears to be against them in the first place.

I’d recommend it to everyone.

Most of Umera's stories give you goosebumps. This one did, too.
This was one of the novels that I read in digest, and waited patiently for the next issue to come.

A beautifully written story, with just the right amount of curiosity. It kept me hooked. And I like how she played with the names. Okay, not saying much or it will ruin the books for those who have not read it yet.

Do read.

When I first started it , I was expecting the usual Umera Ahmed's charm to work on me. But unfortunately that didn't happen. The story line wasn't strong enough for me and secondly , I couldn't relate to the girl's character . Like I've seen examples of such sort but nobody's that naive as Mehar was portrayed; keeping the fact in mind that she was also a psychology student .. i just couldnt digest how a girl with such strong beliefs, high morals and intellectual powers could succumb to such .. crap. But as they say, *teraak he doobta ha, driver he ka accident hota ha* etc..
Enjoyed the first n last two pages of the novel so .. worth the read.

Going to add something in my dua from now on thanks to Miss Umera for that .. * Allah say reham*

What I loved being reminded off from Umera this time?

If I’d read this book three years back, I would’ve laughed off Mehar’s character and thought, “No one’s actually like that in real life.” But after spending three years in college, I’ve come across so many girls who are exactly like her — making the same mistakes, even when they know better. They exist. A lot more than we think.

Till date my favourite from Umera Ahmed!!

"Har ladki yehi samjhati hai ke fareb dusro ko diya jata hai. Iss ke liye agar kuch kaha jaraha hai, toh woh haqiqat hai, woh haqiqat ke ilawa isme aur kuch dekhna hi nahi chahti....khud se iss hadd tak mohabbat karti hai har aurat... aur me... Me bhi is Sinf se ta-aluq rakhti hu,"

"Aur insaan shar ko istrah mangta hai jese khair ko, aur beshak insaan bada hi jaldbaaz waqe hua hai."

-Recommended for every girl out there, its just 150 pages!

Darbar e dil By Umera Ahmed

It is a good one-time read. I liked probably the first nine chapters the most. I could understand everything about it, relate it to society and reflect on it.
Do I think every Pakistani girl should read it? Absolutely yes especially teenagers.
It is to become more conscious of:-
~ how you can protect yourself from all this 'Mahabbat thing' and darbar-e-dil.
~ what you should ask from Allah
~ what should be your dua
~ Alalh's reham on you.
This book made me understand and realize the importance of self-accountability.

Some symptoms of stepping into Darbar-e-Dil:-
1. One starts forgetting and leaving one's Salats. At first, she missed her Tahajjud. then next day she missed her Isha prayer as well and then Fajar. It continued and ultimately,...
2. One starts getting more into isolation and avoids socializing just so one can get into our imaginative world.
3. One starts getting away from their parents.
4. One starts lying more and more.

Ahh it made my cry at some points like crazy. I can see and feel how she felt disappointed and hopeless and turned into someone else. That's not a good thing but with little belief that we have in Allah, anyone of us would have done the same!
I wish there was more to it; more to their encounter after mimi's accident but I guess that's just umera ahmed's style of writing!

This book was so interesting to read. The twist was amazing and again she gave a beautiful message.
I love how she has the ability to convey real feelings, emotions and traumas by these fictional characters.

Another Work by Umera Ahmed. She writes very well each and every topic. This is one of the topic that needs to be discussed and she did it very well. How love affairs can destroy someone's whole life. And it is really disturbing to do this kind of act for the sake of a Bet. Ending was unexpected. It could be better, because repentance is one of the granted thing that Islam teaches us whether wherever we are standing in our life.

Good Read!!

It was good novel and can be relevant to a lot of us in this generation of mobile phones but not everyone can relate to it.
I cherish it because it was my first ever novel as a teenager so it's close to my heart.
