Another wonderfully written English Heritage Guidebook. The maps in the front and the back covers of the book as well as the illustrated recreations of the Castle help the reader understand better the different locations around the Castle and bring it to life.

The history section of the book and the biographical insights into the life of Thomas of Lancaster were particularly helpful in understanding the history behind the initial building of the Castle.

Let's hope that English Heritage are able to do some more archeological investigation on the site and bring a bit more of it's Iron Age history to light.
