Peace of Mind Is a Blanket That Purrs

Rate this book
With a warm mixture of fantasy and reality, "Rose is Rose" presents the Gumbo family and the magic in their everyday life. It stars child-at-heart Rose, her "decent Neanderthal" husband Jimbo, and their anything-but-precocious son Pasquale. Nominated for Best Newspaper Comic Strip of 1993 and 1995, "Rose is Rose" is loved by cartoonists as well as readers in more than 400 newspapers. "Peanuts" creator Charles Schultzsays, "Ever since 'Rose is Rose' began, I have been one of its most ardent admirers." Peace of Mind is a Blanket that Purrs is a warm and charming gift book that reminds us of the securities that Pasquale -- and all young children--find in life.

Cartoons that remind us how the little things that make us happy are often overlooked. This would be a great book to give to family/friends who are feeling down. Every once in awhile I will try to find a book that will help me put things in perspective, helping me see that there is going to be a better day coming. This is the type of book that gets you there!

A collection of the comic strip Rose is Rose. This collection features the adorable kitty of the family, Peekaboo.

Rose is Rose is one of the cutest comic strips and I have loved it for a while. This collection puts Peekaboo(cutest name ever) up front and center. I picked up this book from paperbackswap.com. It was a nice little gem to grab. I wish the comic was still active but it has since retired.

The only downside is that I did not feel that these were some of the best strips with Peekaboo. I feel like I have read other good ones but this book did not have them.

If you are a fan of the comic this is fun to have if not it might be a good introduction.
Even though I think there are better strips of Rose is Rose I still am happy to have this one in my collection.

I love this comic and am disappointed that it is not found in the local papers (thank God for comics.com for the daily emails of this comic, along with my fabulous aunt in New Jersey who cuts it out of her newspaper and mails it to me!)

This family is sweet and loving. I enjoy how the parents give each other love notes and kisses. I enjoy the son's Guardian Angel. And, of course, I enjoy the cat's mischief and love of a good lap....
