This book is well written, the characters are well developed, and the settings well described.

I picked this book up long ago but could not get through it. It was no better this time. It did not grab me, but it did grow on me. I pushed through and found the story interesting. The brutality was hard to read, but I am also sure it is true to the times.

We have a lot to learn from the Native people who we displaced on this continent. The inclusion of women in their society is something Europeans should have learned from instead of destroying.

This is one of my all time favorite books. I must have read this a dozen times as a teenager. I always identified so strongly with Morning Song. I loved her strength and courage. Can’t recommend this enough.

This is really a four star book, but there's a great deal of sadness and character loss in it--so I have to take that into account in my rating. It's a very good read.
