TGA Series #2

That Girl America

Rate this book
It's no secret that the last three years were hard for America Rossi. Now, with senior year under way, the Abraham crew is ready for an amazing end to their high school experience. But America has a huge decision to make—move to Italy after graduation or stay in Fountain Hill. The thought of leaving her friends is unimaginable, especially as she tries to help them through their own resurfacing nightmares.

The only thing she knows for sure is that she's ready to live out a year worth writing about in the last letter for The Assignment. Football games, risky adventures, and completing the BFF Bucket List are her focus until there's an accident and she's responsible for taking a life. In the aftermath, she must figure out how to live hers again.

Randi, Chloe, and the Abraham boys don't leave her side, but Jerry Torres, the first guy to break her heart, may be the only one who can pull her back from the edge. Choosing between Italy and Fountain Hill won't be the only decision she has to make in the end.

Content/Trigger Warnings: alcoholism(parent), car accident, death of a minor, depression, disordered eating, traumatic grief depiction, physical assault, sexual content, talk about rape.

WHAT AN EMOTIONAL RIDE 😭!

My heart literally ached for America throughout this entire book. But this was the perfect follow up to This Girl America.

Just like the first book, this one covers some heavy topics (thank you Chelsie for the trigger warnings).

The friendships are just amazing and it continues to make me wish I had this kind of lifelong group of friends in high school.

These characters were tested to their core. No matter what age, teen or adult, we all go through obstacles, life altering moments, and support is the number one thing that helps us through. These friends showed up, and supported and were there for each other no matter what. And that made all the difference in the world.

I can only hope we would all be lucky enough to have those kinds of friends in our lifetime.

Pick this one up out February 21st.

WOW! Chelsie has done it again 🙌🏼. I felt all of the feels with America in the first book (I literally cried and laughed along side her) but even more so in this sequel. Chelsie has a way of making you feel like you’re a part of the storyline yourself and I love that about her writing!

I absolutely love all of the 2000’s nostalgia in these two books and it took me right back to my own pre-teen and teen years. There are a lot of heavy, yet relatable, topics in these books that keep you engaged with the characters and wanting to see what happens next. This was another hard book to put down - I absolutely loved it!

Thank you, Chelsie, for allowing me to be an ARC reader for this book. I cannot recommend this series enough!

Wow, That Girl America is a perfect ending to America & Co's story. I loved it. The friendships in this book are a blast to read and the dialogue is fun and witty but also perfectly portrays the teenage brain and how they think. The pacing was stellar and has you enthralled from start to finish. I found myself flying through the pages! That Girl America is an extremely clever book that normalises a devastating and tragic experience many face, which is not just underrepresented in fiction, but everywhere. And Chelsie does it with love, care, and grace. With both TGA1 and TGA2, Prince has raised the bar for realistic YA books and I AM HERE FOR IT. Yay for genuine representations of teenage experiences.

4.5 stars.

ARC REVIEW:
5/5🌟

I don’t even know where to start with this review. Chelsie you have done it again.

I fell in love with This Girl America and knew I had to sign up for an ARC of That Girl America.

While reading this book I got so lost in it and I did have to put it down a few times to regain reality. America had gone through a lot in book 1 but nothing that compared to book 2. With the help of friends and family she was able to come out on the other side.

That Girl America made me laugh, made me cry, made me audibly gasp. But I would pick it up and read it again 100 times over.

I read an ARC of this book and really enjoyed it. Admittedly, realistic YA is one of my least favorite genres, but America and her friends drew me in with This Girl America and I had to see how their senior year ended.

Stories like this are important. Hard topics portrayed in fiction hold the potential to make someone feel less alone. I remember a great deal about high school and, although my experience was vastly different in nearly every way, I found myself relating to the characters and their driving emotions.

I absolutely loved reading about America’s senior year with Randi, Chloe and the Abraham boys. I became so attached to the characters, I really felt like they were my real friends. Chelsie Prince really took us through ups and downs with the characters and wrapped up their high school story perfectly. Although, it did leave me wanting more and I wouldn’t be mad if there was a third book in the future. Loved the story, the characters, the setting, the unexpected twists and turns and the ending. Definitely recommend!

Chelsie Prince does it again!! That Girl America is the perfect sequel!! I felt right at home with America, Randi, Chloe and the Abraham boys. The friendship this group has is sometime to strive for. TGA 2 was beautifully written and had me feeling ALL of the emotions! This story touched on some highly important and untalked about topics in YA literature and Chelsie did a phenomenal job!!

that girl America is well written, and i easily felt immersed in the story.

this is a true sequel, so you must read "this girl, America" first.

This book was more than I ever hoped for in a sequel. Chelsie you are an amazing storyteller with a unique perspective. America is by far my favorite girl character and I related so much to her trials and tribulations. I couldn't put the book down because I wanted to hear her story so much. America is the perfect female lead and her friends are for sure goals in BFFs. You will read nothing similar to this book and that is an amazing thing to experience!

If I thought This Girl America was good, this one blew me out of the park! This book made me so emotional, the heavy topics in these books were handled so beautifully, it literally brought all of the emotions out of me. This book was the most amazing ending to America’s story and I loved every single minute of it. It made me thankful for the 2 best friends I have from high school and all the wonderful memories. These are perfect, I MEAN PERFECTTTT coming of age novels and set the bar so high for any other novels in this age range. I flew through both of these books because I was so excited to see how the characters overcome hardships, and what happened next. If you haven’t picked these up pleaseeeee I beg you, get them and I promise they will not disappoint! Two new comfort reads that I could read over and over!!

The nostalgia alone is a fantastic reason to read this, as well as This Girl America. The characters punch you right in the chest because you either knew one of these characters or you were one of these characters growing up. The way that Chelsie makes you feel like you’re going through everything with them, is pure magic. This Girl America and That Girl America have quickly become two of my favorite books of all time.
