I heard of Ms. Glass as an up-and-coming author who specializes in compelling inter-racial romances, so decided to try her out. I'm hoping I just picked a bad example but I was not impressed.

In the story, Nicole Legere is a psychic who sees the future through her dreams. In trying to stop a murder, she contacts the police - or Lt. "Jax" who finds her beautiful and intriguing but nuts. He scorns and demeans both her and her abilities, then lists her as the #1 suspect and bullies and pushes her to confess. Somewhere in this, he also finds himself horny and takes her to bed! This occurs while he is on duty and she jumps right in, in spite of the fact he is treating her like dirt. Afterwards, he resumes ignoring her or demeaning her. Nicole supposedly regrets letting a virtual stranger into her bed, especially one who has no respect for her or her abilities. However, she begs him to sleep with her again the very next day! This actually continues throughout the book, the man demeaning the woman, the woman crawling back, "forgiving" him and begging for more. Unfortunately it also over shadows what could have been a very interesting story.

Is this stereotype not the very thing we are trying so hard to overcome in our society? Why then are we perpetuating it? I would think Ms. Glass would want to show an inter-racial (or any) heroine as strong, capable, yet loving. I can't imagine why this portrayal would ever be considered as appropriate.

To Believe or Not To Believe?!!!

This is the third novel I've read by Ms. Seressia Glass. "Dream of Shadows" is totally different from the other romances I've read by her. It has an enjoyably dark and thrilling edge to it. This novel is about the power and heritage Nicole Legere has denied most of her life, but must come to accept quickly, if she wants to save lives from an evil being who longs to take possession of this power by any means necessary. It's also about Detective Carter Jackson trying to choose between his feelings for a woman with psychic abilities, something he's NEVER believed in and about him being able to do his job as a cop, and bring a criminal to justice, without losing Nicki, his only witness or himself in the process of all this supernatural mumbo-jumbo. And even though he doesn't believe in this metaphysical world, he still wants to protect Nicki and feels that part of his duty is keeping her out of harms way at any cost. It's about a family that continues to make many sacrifices to keep the Balance between "Light and Dark" or "Good and Evil" in this world, in order to keep humanity safe from the unexplainable "things that go bump in the night". This was a dark, yet still a very sensual romance with a rollercoaster ride of suspense-filled moments that kept me turning the pages, just dying to know what would happen next.~~~~~~~The passion between Jax and Nicki was so intense it had that magical or supernatural vibe that neither could deny or escape. All the characters were so unforgettable, and I hope this isn't the last I'll hear of them. I found the storyline to be "UNBELIEVABLY" intriguing, because like Jax, I am a Non-Believer of the metaphysical world, however, I was still caught up in every moment of this story! Good Job, Ms. Glass, looking forward to reading more about the "Legere Legacy" and this families journey!!

Had never heard or read any of her books but this one seem to peek my interest and be a possibility of the subject matter of what I like to read. It started slowly but building the characters was needed and as I read it became a book I didn't want to put down as it built my interest page by page. I am not into your basic love romance novels but this one has enough twist and turns that it's not your basic romance. Well worth the read.

Luved it! I have read most of Seressia's other books and assumed that this was an IR book, wrong. Nevertheless, it was exciting story. The characters were well written and the phyical attraction was a good mix. I hope Ms. Glass gives the secondary characters their own story expecially Bear and Mala.

Fast paced and entertaining.
Must be something about seressia - I seem to always end up reading her books when I'm in Perth.

Not 100% sold on Jax as a hero but the story was enjoyable enough to look past that.

Remember reading shadow blade a few years back, will have to double check but I suspect this book is a spinoff. Hopefully more to follow :)
