A small-town summer...

The days are long and lazy, the corn is high, the sunflowers are in bloom, and everyone in Bedford is gearing up for the biggest event of the summer: the annual county fair. But when a Nashville music producer approaches Bob about using Heather Creek Farm to film a country star's new music video, he and Charlotte are faced with a dilemma. Will they allow the glamour and enticements of big-city life to encroach upon their peaceful home? Will the excitement of celebrity drown out the simple joys of summer?

Goyer has created a family that seems "real." The problems faced by Bob and Charlotte, along with their grandchildren, are very realistic. You want to keep reading in order to discover what happens next. It's like peaking into the lives of "old" friends.

If you are looking for a book that's easy to read, on a sunny summer day, then check out Sunflower Serenade. If the rest of the series is like this book, you'll find yourself falling in love with this family - as they work through the ups and downs of life.

Each book in the series keeps getting better and better. Sam's friend Jordan from San Diego comes for a visit, Sam is so worried what Jordan will think about Nebraska. It is a very busy time with the fair going on, how will Emily do with her photographs, Christopher with Toby, and Charlotte with her pie? Will the family be okay with a famous country singer coming to their farm to shoot a music video? Read this really good book to find out.

As always, this is part of a series you can feel comfortable sharing with your family. In "Sunflower Serenade," Emily takes photographs with an old camera, photos which she would like to enter into the yearly fair. She has friends she never had. She has something not so nice happen quickly on the heels of something exciting - more than once.

Sam's friend from San Diego visits and Sam is worried about what Jordan will think of Nebraska life compared to that of his life in California. Sam is fiercely protective of his present life on the farm at Heather Creek.

Heather Creek has been selected as the farm in which a company from Tennessee wants to video a music celebrity. Pete is adamantly against it.

There are lessons to be learned for Charlotte as well as for Emily.
