Cellist Sophia Burkhalter thought ten years in Europe performing with an exclusive ensemble would have made it clear that she wasn’t a candidate for her grandmother’s matchmaking. After all, she’d walked away from the man she loved, leaving him back home in Kansas City.
David Kendal had fallen in love with Sophia, a match orchestrated by her grandmother and his aunt. However, the unexpected appearance of the daughter he never knew he had—and Sophia’s sudden, subsequent departure for Europe—thrust him into the role of single father.
Carissa Kendal has only ever wanted the best for her father. It doesn’t take long for her to realize that the very woman who broke her father’s heart might be the one to make them a real family.
Can Carissa and the women who originally played matchmaker to the duo convince them that love is worth a second try? Or will careers and past mistakes tear them apart forever before they have a chance to reconcile?
Bestselling Author Bernadette Marie writes contemporary romances and believes in Happily Ever After. The married mother of five believes in love at first sight, quick love, and second chances. An avid martial artist, Bernadette Marie is a certified instructor and holds a second degree black belt in Tang Soo Do. She loves Tai Chi, traveling to Disney parks, and having lunch with friends. When not writing, or running her own publishing house, Bernadette is probably immersed in a Rom Com, from which she will often quote one liners.
I loved this book! In true Bernadette Marie style, she has woven characters into the story that you fall in love with and want to follow - to know what happens to them as they move on with their lives. I don't want to give anything away......just read the book, and fall in love with this family like you did the Keller's. I am so glad that Bernadette Marie was able to re-release these books so everyone can read them.
This is my favorite book!! A wonderful story about love rekindled, with the help of two elderly matchmakers! Sometimes it's a good thing when people meddle in the lives of others! This is the first of a great trilogy! I couldn't wait for the others to come out so I could enjoy these characters throughout the rest of the series!
Emotional! That is the only word I can come up with after finishing this story. I started it and I could not put it down. You can't help but fall in love with the characters, just like all the characters in Bernadette's stories. I will definitely have to read Encore. After reading the first chapter I want to fallow Carissa's story.
Some of the character stuff was really nicely done, but the plot was so blah and the whole reason they split up was really contrived. They just needed to talk to one another. The reasons that they didn't, didn't ring true, because they could talk about other things.
