Excellent guide to the Lake Superior area, including the geological history.

Only complaint is that there are no photographs, only illustrations, which are harder to use accurately for identifying specimens.

When it comes down to identifying the difference between some similar stones I was left scratching my head. Even great illustrations are so 1927! I mean it is a pretty little book for an incredibly casual curiosity but for someone looking to actually identify stones it will leave them needing to buy another book. Very disappointing Christmas present to myself!
