I look at Sioux Falls differently because of this book. There's so much history hidden behind the surface of seemingly normal buildings and landmarks that the essays elucidate. Of course, some were better than others (I would have enjoyed a proper history of the cathedral, and I'm not a big short story fan), but overall, there were more hits than misses for me. This is a niche book, but I'd recommend to all fellow Midwestern history aficionados.

I grew up in Sioux Falls and learned so much about my home town from this book! Interesting and unexpected tooics about Sioux Falls that were brand-new to me and well known. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who has ever called Sioux Falls home!
