This is intended for teachers to use in class to help students analyze both texts and artifacts around the subject of entertainment and sports in the ancient world. The chapters are organized around types of sports and have excepts and photos with questions helping students think about what they learn about sports from those sources. There’s a lot we don’t know, but also tons of fascinating detail—like women’s athletic participation and the existence of professional athletes. A lot of time is spent showing how the Olympics fit in with all of this.

Decent, but really a reference book. The kind you don't read for fun.
