Distinguished animal trainer Linda Tellington-Jones combines her extraordinarily successful experiences performing the Tellinton TTouch with solid how-to advice that anyone can use on dogs, cats, horses, birds, even reptiles and exotic animals to show how to release the pain, fear, and tension so many animals suffer. Photos & line drawings.
Linda Tellington-Jones' methods of connecting to animals through touch is certainly compelling to read about. I was inspired by her techniques and motivations, but I'm not sure if I could actually replicate what she advises. The line drawings are kind of helpful, but it's a difficult thing to read about without having someone actually show you in person. There is some fluffy, New Age-y methodology in here, and virtually no reference to any scientific research or benefits--rather, she relies exclusively on personal anecdotes about how this works. I'm not necessarily doubting her veracity--I'm sure that the Tellington TTouch does create dramatic changes in many distressed animals--but I doubt I could actually put these techniques into practice myself.
This is definitely the one to start with, and then look at individual animals later. Lots of good anecdotes, and it felt like a more natural writing style.
