House of Driscoll

Rate this book
In the midst of the turbulent French Revolution, Max Driscoll turned his stable-hand Galien into a vampire mate to save him from the guillotine. Max later came to regret that rash act, however, when he realized Galien was not a good man, nor the right man for him. Since then, no matter how many miles, how many centuries Max puts between them, he just can't shake the rogue vampire.

Lured from his French castle to New York City to "clean up" Galien's series of abductions and murders in the city's gay district, Max is forced into a long-awaited confrontation, and vows to eliminate his nemesis permanently. What he doesn't know, however, is that it's not Galien who's on the killing spree, but a young man Galien turned. Now, Blue is a sweet, sensitive, beautiful, tragic vampire...and a homicidal maniac.

Can Max tame Blue enough to make him his partner in the afterlife and a worthy member of the vampire community in the House of Driscoll?

NOTE: Don't miss the sequel, The House Of Driscoll, Book II, available soon from Amber Allure!

A.J. Llewellyn lives in California, but dreams of living in Hawaii. Frequent trips to all the islands, bags of Kona coffee in the fridge and a healthy collection of Hawaiian records keep this writer refueled.

A.J’s passion for the islands led to writing a play about the last ruling monarch of Hawaii, Queen Lili’uokalani as well as a non-erotic novel about the overthrow of her kingdom written in diary form from her maid’s point of view.

A.J. never lacks inspiritation for male/male erotic romances and on the rare occasion this happens, pursues other passions such as collecting books on Hawaiiana, surfing and spending time with friends and animal companions.

A.J. Llewellyn believes that love is a song best sung out loud.

This is one of those books that makes me wish I'd had the patience to wait for the sequel before I read it. It's got an amazing set of characters, some intriguing mysteries, and it felt like the story barely got started, and 'bang' - 'to be continued'. Man! The language I used to describe my feelings when the abrupt ending caught me by surprise was NOT ladylike.

The characters had me fascinated - I even occasionally yelled at them for being idiots in various ways. Max is a cold block of ice who doesn't know the meaning of love, but he tries to 'do the right thing'. Galien, the man he turned 300 years earlier, still loves him and will do anything to get him back. Blue is an enigma - even to himself, and as he slowly starts remembering things, it only gets 'curioser and curioser'. Then there's Katherine, beautiful and mysterious in her own right, who is somehow linked to Max.

Add a bunch of human religious fanatics and another vampire who believes he's the second coming and you've got the ingredients for a truly amazing story. Too bad I've now got to wait for the sequel to find out what is REALLY going on...

This is one of those books that made me wish I'd had the patience to wait for the sequel before I read it - that was for the first edition. Now that I have reread it, I am still fascinated by the way this story is set up and makes me wish I can go straight to the sequel. Of course - this time I can! 'The House of Driscoll' has an amazing set of characters, some intriguing mysteries, and it felt like the story barely got started, and "bang" - the next thing I read was "to be continued". Man! The language I used to describe my feelings when the abrupt ending caught me by surprise was NOT ladylike.

Okay this book wasn't nothing special, the theme about vampires is not my fav so I guess no wonder I didn't really like the book. And the story is boring. Galien a vampire is crazy about his maker Max who changed him and saved his life because he felt responsible..., anyway no crazy love between them both anyway. But no Galien is still doing all crazy, murdering things just to get Max into his City because he will make Max love him, bed him, bla bla. Simple said Galien dosn't know how to give up and move on. I really hate to read about stupid characters and Galien is one, he he

Really not recommendable.

This book was entertaining enough, but...meh. I came to realize that Book 2 has a 'To Be Continued' ending, and there haven't been any other books since then. That was 2011! I think I'll pass on book 2, though, not because I didn't like this one, but because I get invested in a series, and it stops all of a sudden.

This book just wasn't for me. There was a mechanical quality to it and although there was plenty of backstory supplied, it felt extraneous rather than organic. My biggest problem was that I felt like I'd seen all these characters and read all of these "twists" in other books with greater impact. Gallien's obession, Blue's sociopathy, even Max's ennui felt llike postures rather than clues. I kept getting ahead of the book, so the ominous hinting stopped seeming ominous quickly.

I've enjoyed both of these writers but this one was a disappointment.

Fantastic. Tons of mystery. Loved the story the detail is amazing and the characters wonderful. Blue is really cute but confused and Max is the classic bad boy. I can't decide if Galien has any redeeming qualities or not. I really can't wait for the next book I want to read it now!!!
