Rosemary Ellen Guiley is a leading expert on the paranormal, and is the author of 45+ books, including ten single-volume encyclopedias. Since 1983, she has worked full-time in the paranormal, researching, investigating and writing. She has done extensive field work investigating haunted, mysterious and sacred places, and has had numerous strange and unexplained experiences. When she is not on the paranormal road, she is working on new books and writing for TAPS Paramagazine, FATE magazine, and the Journal of Abduction-Encounter Research. Rosemary lives in New Jersey, and spend much of her time traveling the spooky byways of one of the most haunted states in America, Pennsylvania."
I do enjoy reading this book, but believe the title is an inaccurate description. The title really should be "The Encyclopedia of Angels and Demons." It really is an interesting book with some pictures, folklore, and information about every angel (and a few demons) imaginable from their appearance in the Bible, to history etc. A fascinating read.
If you are looking for reference material on angels of all religious traditions, including Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, New Age, et - this is a great book to start with. The information is vast, and is very objective. I like that, rather than offering an opinion on the validity of different stories, she just lays out all of the legends and myths for the reader. It was very informative. I didn't get to finish it before I took it back to the library, but I skipped around quite a bit and enjoyed it a lot.
Rosemary's dedication to exhaustive research is evident in her fabulous book of reference. If readers want to know anything about angels--myths, origins of lore and facts--they need look no further. Guiley's book is jam-packed with information that provides many key points and leads for further investigation. Her book was extremely helpful in my research. If you want to explore the realm of the mystical and paranormal, this is a great place to begin.
What a remarkable book and resource for me. This is my go to book for all things when writing about Angels for me. I found this book at a second hand store and felt absolutely divinely guided to buy it and bring it home. Thank you Angels.
