I read about one book per a week during my six month deployment back in 2001. Each copy had at least four books so roughly I went through almost 20-24 books of various authors and genres. All good stories but there were a few I did not read since the author's style did not find mine. Sorry I cannot remember all of the stories by I am thankful for my former mother-in-law for sending them to me. It was a big live saver for keeping my sanity when you are away from home and loved ones. Three cheers for Reader's Digest Condensed Books!

Story about two close friends, Ed and Connor, and mostly what happens in their lives outside of smoke jumping. Ed marries the love of his life, Julie, but she actually loves Connor too. In the end Connor and Julie come together after Ed's death.

I didn't even realise that I read the CONDENSED version at the dentist's until I tried to find where I had left off in the unabridged ebook. Should have suspected when a Ken Follett book is less than 200 pages!
