A collection of beautiful poems by the preeminent Canadian poet; Carman, and the American composer, poet and artist; Hovey. In his time, Bliss Carman was arguably Canada's best known poet, and was dubbed by some the "unofficial poet laureate of Canada."
A forgotten poet with a great name, Bliss Carman. A Harvard-educated Canadian, he was successful enough to make a good living on his writing alone - but who reads him now? Maybe Canadian schoolchildren. John Masefield and Robert Louis Stevenson, who both wrote in the same style, are much more worth reading. But . . . but - I got sucked in by another fabulous artist-designed book cover, this one by Thomas Buford Meteyard. Three men in a black circle on dove gray paper. Very Aubrey Beardsley.
