This is a lovely book if you mostly pay attention to the images. There are many excellent photographs included of the exteriors and interesting parts of the interiors for some properties. The text leaves a lot to be desired. Jenkins does a thorough job of listing rooms and items he thinks are interesting within them, but it's often in such a supercilious tone that my eyes were quite sore from all the rolling. Perhaps it's just the Yorkshire edition. He's obviously incredibly disdainful of the whole area. Granted, there's a lot to be disdainful about (I left for a reason) but the quality of its historic houses is a dubious one to pick.

Beautifully illustrated book with sufficient information about all the historic houses in Yorkshire to whet your appetite to go and visit. Thoroughly recommend to anyone who will be in Yorkshire to take with them.
