Sea-Road of the Saints: Celtic Holy Men in the Hebrides

Rate this book
John Marsden follows the course of the sea-road of the early Celtic saints from Ireland to the western coast and isles of Scotland. He explores the spiritual tradition of the White Martyrdom of Exile for Christ as it was lived out by these voyager-visionaries against the seascapes of the Hebrides.

A very good book about a very specific topic. It feels like full circle for me, coming all the way here since I started reading about medieval Irish monks back when The Last Jedi was released in 2017.

There are a lot of great characters here, but Columba and Brendan the Navigator steal the show.
