As someone who has read next to nothing on Nazi Germany I found this book to be very interesting. It is well organized, and the opening chapters provide some context on the cultural milieu and the rise of Prussian militarist values, reactions to WWI & to the Treaty of Versailles. It then proceeds to chronicle the rise of National Socialism in Germany from humble beginnings as a coffeehouse discussion group, the causes and personages involved, and does so in an engaging narrative style. This is all really cool stuff. There are a number of subjects introduced which I feel I would like to do further reading on, as this book is certainly not exhaustive. It doesn't spend a lot of time on the holocaust, on propaganda, or on describing ss or army tactics. Either way, if you need to learn more about the Nazi party and their policies or about Hitler's early years this book is a good place to start.
