Inside "The Green Book," find out how you can - Don't ask for ATM receipts. If everyone in the United States refused their receipts, it would save a roll of paper more than two billion feet long, or enough to circle the equator fifteen times! - Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth. You'll conserve up to five gallons of water per day. Throughout the entire United States, the daily savings could add up to more water than is consumed every day in all of New York City. - Get a voice-mail service for your home phone. If all answering machines in U.S. homes were replaced by voice-mail services, the annual energy savings would total nearly two billion kilowatt hours. The resulting reduction in air pollution would be equivalent to removing 250,000 cars from the road for a year! With wit and authority, authors Elizabeth Rogers and Thomas Kostigen provide hundreds of solutions for all areas of your life, pinpointing the smallest changes that have the biggest impact on the health of our precious planet. "From the Trade Paperback edition."
Some of the information was outdated, as the book is 10 years old now. Still, there were some good tips in the book to help with the very serious issue of global warming. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I already do a lot of the things suggested.
Easy to read book about how to help preserve our earth in small steps. Nothing too enlightening in this one however, as I'm a part time tree hugger. Since it was written 10 years ago it's interesting to see what has already become common place and what has not.
Although this book doesn't have characters or a climax and falling action, it still was one of the most educational and interesting books to read. Often I had to stop and re-read some of the interesting facts this book had in store. I don't read at all independently unless i'm told to by a teacher or parent, but this time I would like to read more books now because this book has me hooked. I want to now read more educational and environment conservation books. Lastly, I even recommended this book to my mom; something I've never done before.
Written in 2007, it is outdated in various areas, however it just highlights the progress we’ve made with global environmental awareness. Regardless, this is a simple and quick read that gives good tips on greener living.
