With illustrations in full color, turn playtime into learning time with lovable Sesame Street Muppet Elmo and the biggest flap book ever! Toddlers can lift alphabet blocks to find a word beginning with each letter, open doors and windows on Sesame Street to count objects from one to ten, lift flaps that reveal opposites, and help Elmo find his teddy! More than 60 sturdy flaps--10 to 26 per spread--are part of the page and are made to stand up to the repeated wear and tear toddlers are sure to inflict with lots of lifting, looking, seeking, finding, and fun!
oh, fiona, and your endless love for elmo. when will it ever end?
of all our elmo books - and we have a ton - this one is my favorite. it's less about "reading" and more about looking. there are cute sections based on numbers, alphabet, shapes, colors, etc. fiona has a particular fondness for the trapezoids and ovals, and the number page is so well-loved that several doors and windows are missing their "doors".
my only real complaint, in fact, is that the book is not particularly sturdy. we definitely lost the first flap during our first reading.
what can i say? that fiona is an enthusiastic young reader.
Great interactive book that features some of the classic Sesame Street characters from my youth. My daughter loves it. Recommended for any toddler library.
Caveat here: it's a 5/5 for a lift-the-flap book for toddlers. It's not brilliant. There's no plot. But there are lots of sturdy flaps. High quality bright illustrations that line up correctly with said flaps. Counting on the first page with advent-calendar style hunt-for-the-next-consecutive-number over an urban street scene. Alphabet on the next with a full 26 flaps. Then shapes and colours (colours not expressly labelled, so that's on you to ask or point out), followed by opposites (flaps are quite fun and useful on this page), and finally a hedonistic "just lift all the flaps for the heck of it" spree while searching for a fairly easy to spot missing teddy. But you get to open a piano and its bench, which I thought fun.
I had this book when I was younger, and loved it, so naturally, I had to get it for my kids. They both loved it, especially my daughter! This book was a big hit, and has been read multiple times already.
This book is fun, but also, helps teach numbers, the alphabet, and other good skills. This is a great book for kids!
Your standard lift the flap book. Covers numbers 1-10, letters, shapes, opposites. I swear there is a flap missing from the "find Elmo's teddy bear" pages. The bear is out in the open and not behind any flap.
I wish it had a “Colors” section instead of the “Find Elmo’s Teddy Bear”. (Also, why isn’t the teddy bear not under a flap? It is super easy to find when it is out in the open & visible…) Perfect for 123, ABC, and even shapes - but no colors?
My 2 year old loved the numbers and alphabet pages!
I picked this book up to pacify my toddler while shopping at a BJ's wholesale club. It was my intention to just borrow it for the duration of the shopping trip, but by the time we were ready to check out, I knew it needed to be a permanent addition to our library. It has been invaluable for keeping her occupied and entertained in situations where I need her to be still and quiet (grocery cart, airplane, car, doctor's office, etc) Our most recent use of this book is to keep her happy while sitting on the potty now that we're out of diapers - it's been fabulous!
This book is one of my son's favorites! Although there doesn't look like there's much to it, it does a great job helping toddlers preschoolers learn numbers, shapes, colors, and opposites. My son tore some of the flaps off years ago, but I don't dare take this one away from my four-year-old...he still loves it!
There's no plot; each page teaches a different concept: shapes, letters, opposites, etc. There are numerous flaps to lift for busy hands. Both of my kids have gotten much use out of this one.
