In 1845, there were 200 coin s born when Texas joined the United States. They were to be given to all major players that helped Texas into the US. These coins were loaded on to a wagon one rainy night near Dallas, Texas and never seen again. Parks Leslie and Stan Atcher, both treasure hunters and historians, were always looking for their next big find. When the coin resurfaces after a couple of local kids stumble upon what appeared to be one in a Southeast Texas creek, it reopens Parks interest and the hunt is on. What the two did not know is that the coins had been guarded by a local family for years, and they were not about to let them go now. Ultimately, Parks and Stan have to team up with the local family to get out of a deadly situation when a gold hungry militia group enters the picture unexpectedly.
Jason L. Bradshaw’s novel “Beneath Creek Waters” offers more eye-popping twists and turns than the Intimidator 305 roller coaster. The adventure follows modern day treasure hunters Parks Leslie and Stan Atcher as they seek 200 historical coins that disappeared one Texas night more than 150 years ago. They’re not the only ones looking for the valuable coins, though – but they’re the only ones who know how to find them…and everyone else knows that. Cinematic in quality, “Beneath Creek Waters” easily could be the start of a movie franchise centered on these treasure hunters’ escapades. There’s no deep philosophy or introspection here – just fun, rollicking action with some guy humor tossed in for good measure. It’s the kind of book you just don’t see, but wish you would, in today’s genre-inundated publishing world.
I received this book for an honest review. Having said that, I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I really don't read "history" related stories, but this was more than just a history story. There are 2 friends that are looking for the lost gold coins that were made in honor of Texas in the 1800's. Little do they know they know that they are not the only ones looking for these coins, and these other people are not so nice. There is a family involved that are related to one of the original coin makers and they don't want to give up their history or gold coins either. It is a face paced book that will have you rooting for the good guys! Check it out for yourself.
It was a good book. I liked it a lot. It was a well written book. It was full of action/adventure. I saw in the about section of the author that he is writing a sequel to this one called Beneath Gulf Waters. That should be a good book to read too,for sure.
A historic adventure tale that is a fun quick read. The story is good, but the writing needs more polish. I'm not sure if this started as a kindle, self-publishing novel, but it seemed like that type. Everything got tied up in a neat bow by the end in a pretty unrealistic fashion. It was worth reading, but the story had a lot of potential that was never put to use and almost seemed like a YA novel. This was the author's first book and I plan on reading the next in the series "Beneath Gulf Waters," to see his progress.
