*21st Century Kinkycrafts* is a creative and playful guide to combining **crafting with kink**, offering DIY enthusiasts an unconventional approach to making their own BDSM toys, tools, and accessories. Deborah Addington provides both practical instructions and empowering commentary on self-expression, consent, and pleasure within kink culture. The book is equal parts craft manual and celebration of sexual creativity.

---

### **Core Premise**

Kink doesn’t have to be expensive or intimidating. With imagination, resourcefulness, and basic crafting skills, anyone can create personalized kink gear tailored to their desires and dynamics. Making your own tools also deepens intimacy, consent, and understanding in BDSM relationships.

---

### **Key Features of the Book**

1. **DIY Projects for All Skill Levels**
Instructions range from simple, low-cost items to more advanced or decorative pieces, including:

* Handmade floggers
* Restraints and cuffs
* Sensory toys (e.g., ticklers, paddles)
* Decorative impact tools
* Storage and display solutions

2. **Focus on Safety and Consent**
Every project includes safety considerations: how to avoid injury, test materials, and ensure play is consensual and informed.

3. **Material Guidance**
Advice on selecting body-safe, durable, and affordable materials — often from hardware stores, thrift shops, or repurposed household items.

4. **Personalization & Empowerment**
Encourages readers to infuse their creations with personal style, emphasizing that kink is about mutual pleasure, not perfection or performance.

5. **Humor and Accessibility**
Written in a lighthearted, inclusive tone that de-stigmatizes kink and welcomes readers of all backgrounds, genders, and orientations.

---

### **Supporting Themes**

* **Creativity as Erotic Power**: Making kink tools is itself a form of foreplay and expression.
* **Inclusivity and Autonomy**: Kink is for everyone, and DIY culture can help reclaim agency in a commercialized industry.
* **Ethical Play**: Prioritizing mutual respect, safety, and communication is more important than expensive gear.

---

### **Core Takeaways**

* You don’t need to spend a lot to explore BDSM—just a willingness to learn, craft, and communicate.
* Crafting kink gear can enhance trust, anticipation, and intimacy.
* Playfulness, intention, and safety make DIY kink not only fun but deeply meaningful.

This book focuses on using easily- found items from your home or the home-improvement store into items that can be used in kinky play. The directions are easy. The items are not complicated, unlike some instructional books that I have read.
