Megan can't believe it. Out of all the students in her class at Madame Trikilnova's Classical Ballet School, she is picked to dance Clara, the best role in the town's production of "The Nutcracker." But Megan is scared to death. Just when she's been chosen for the part, she finds out that she has a learning disability. What if she scrambles her steps the same way she mixes up letters when she reads?
To make matters worse, Dean Stellar, the boy Megan secretly likes, will dance as her partner in the role of the prince. Megan's so nervous, she's ready to quit ballet!
Other than 10 year olds kissing and a little deception, this is an enjoyable story of a young ballet student living the dream of playing Clara in the Nutcracker - except an unexpected diagnosis throws her for a loop for a while. A good book to show how one shouldn't let a challenge change your identity.
I was not a reader as a kid and I adored this book even then. Now that I've read it again as an adult, I still think it's great. So cute. And I found this part much funnier than I did at eleven: "Pat hasn't had a boyfriend for as long as I've known her. And that's been more than a year. I don't want her to end up an old maid."
