I bought volumes 1-6 of this series and I am determined to read each and every one of them... regardless of how I felt about this first one.
Did I like this? A little, I guess? I mean, the premise isn't bad, but I just didn't understand what Asami saw in Akihito. I think they make a cute couple, but things went from 0 to 100 so quickly that I barely had time to wrap my head around the fact that Asami was even attracted to Akihito. He saw him one day and had him tied up a few days later.
Now, I may be coming across as somewhat hypocritical because Junjo Romantica is one of my favorite yaois (more for sentimental reasons than anything else) and one could argue that it was the same situation for Misaki and Akihiko. But, that was my first yaoi, and I didn't know any better and... I just liked Misaki more. 🤡
The drawings here are very old school (minus the large hands, lol) and I had to get used to that style again. With Junjo Romantica or World's Greatest First Love, two series that have been running for over 15 years, the art has matured and reflected a more modern aesthetic with each volume but when I looked at the latest volume of this series the art didn't seem to change that much.
The non-con/dub-con is very high in this one. I don't mind it, but I know some do. There is also a violent edge to some of the scenes, so if that isn't your thing, you might not like this. My biggest gripe was that after two chapters of the main story, the creator decided it would be okay to place three unrelated oneshots in there before continuing on with one more chapter of the main story, and that chapter was basically filler.
Instead of those boring oneshots, I would have preferred extra chapters that allowed us to get a better sense of who Akihito was as well as an extension of the main storyline before he was kidnapped by Asami. I hope I enjoy the second volume more. 2 stars

This was a rec from Kyn and I read all available chapters in Manga Rock in 5 days. I've discovered manga is awesome to read in bus/car/underground trips, stolen moments at work when it's slow, and everytime I fancy it, because it's easy to follow and doesn't require great concentration in catching-up.
And of course, people just believe you are reading your messages in WhatsApp or Facebook, and as long as they don't take a peek (and you keep a straight face in the most heated scenes), there is nothing to fear.
I maybe got a bit confused sometimes in which who was talking when, because speech bubbles may not as clear as I'd have liked.
But anyway, this is a hell of a fun story. Not the usual romance, mind it. There is dub/non con, BDSM, kidnapping, violence, abuse, mafia issues, and above all a relationship that struggles to get some kind of balance eventually. I still see a long road ahead in order for this to happen, which is ok by me.
But the scenes are very explicit and the thing Asami and Akihito have together is addictive and sexy. Despite all the non-romantic issues I mentioned above.

Mi mente sigue en una bruma espesa tras las primera escena de Asami y Akihito, no sé si me voy a reponer en un futuro próximo, no es que no haya visto/leído cosas más fuertes, pero sinceramente, no me esperaba eso a la primera de cambio o.O

DMP did a wonderful job with this title. They stayed true to the mangaka's work, going above and beyond and making the dialogue/translations more fluid and understandable from what BeBeautiful had originally done. No cencoring or editing of the content which was one of my main worries, and so you get to enjoy Finder in a new way without losing anything of what made it such a wonderful hit with yaoi fans. The color insert was just beautiful and made me wish that it were actually poster size. >.<

I seriously never thought that I would enjoyed a kidnapping (and well, raping, plain and simple) so much *head desk*. The thing is, the drawing is so pretty. Plus, in my twisted mind, no matter what the circumstances of their first meeting, Takaba and Asami are meant for each other. There is that 'red thread' between them that cannot be denied.

I have been dying to read the finder series, for like forever. Crucial situation, I was missing Vol.1, but then I got it and I could not wait a minute longer. So the anticipation was high, because through the yaoi grapevine, this series is one of the best, and I was excited in my pants. Am I slightly disappointed? Perhaps! Could my feelings change? Oh, you bet your sweet ass they will, after all its only volume 1.
Aki is a freelance photographer, trying to make a name for himself behind his viewfinder. He’s naïve and has no understanding that when you want to play with the big boys, you have to be prepared for their big boy toys (ahem, it’s as pervy as it sounds). Aki gets a story on something he has no business taking pics of, and his little ‘I wanna make a name for myself’ lands him in the web of Asami. Sexy crime boss extraordinaire, and too freaking sexy for a damn drawing.
What is it you do when boys are naughty? You punish them of course, and for all that is sweet and holy Asami punishes Aki. Here it comes the plot line that makes it so very yaoi. Aki gets tied up, and Asami uses him like a cum rag. All dirty and ‘wait a moment isn’t this wrong’ because I don’t think he consented to this sex. It depends on how you view it, and I gotta say I have no problems with it but I kind of think that Aki should be really pissed. However, he’s a simple boy, with simple problems.
Then comes the man I have knighted as my manga boyfriend Fei Long. Good grief I love that long hair, and those fine features and I did mention he also went for a ride on the turn style that is Aki. That boy gets his ass into some serious situations, and I do mean his ass.
It has the typical Seme/Uke thing going on. Where Asami never takes his clothes off during sex and the cigarette is always hanging from the side of his mouth. Hey, Asami are you gonna smoke them or are they just decorations. You could save a lot of money if you just smoked the freaking things. Aki, I like! He will forever be in denial that Asami turns him on and the question ‘but I’m a man?’ loses all value. We know you’re a man Aki, and so does Asami.
There are three bonus stories, which offer up some really hot sex scenes but add nothing to the manga. Its just really great smut and folks I am not complaining. With art this beautiful, I will just cry on the inside and salivate over its awesomeness.
I am super excited to read the rest of the volumes, because I just know some serious stuff is gonna go down. I am also deeply interested to see who else will have sex with Aki. Asami will your clothes remain on; will you ever smoke all of one cigarette? I am going to find out folks.

I'm not going to beat around the bush, this is a rape fantasy, in all the cliche, stylized glory that yaoi manga is known for.
The plot is thin, the overall story arc (outside of the unconventional love affair) makes little to no sense and really the only purpose any of it serves is to put Akihito and Asami together so they can have hot, dubious consent, sex. Really the most compelling parts of the story, for me, is the beautiful art and the characterizations of the leads.
Akihito has moments of wit, courage and real human emotions, especially when he's coming to grips with his growing sexual attraction to Asami. The despicable gangster and murder who raped him. Asami is the anti-hero alpha male stereotype of most rape/damsel and the scoundrel fantasies. He is Yakuza, Japanese mafia, and he is a murder, though the only people we see him kill in the story are people who pose a threat to Akihito. He is also possessive and sexual dominant.
Really this manga is pure escapism at it's very best. Complete with convoluted storyline, sometimes laughable dialogue translations and breathtaking art that softens the edges of the otherwise distasteful and disturbing content. Again all of which beloved hallmarks of great manga.
I would recommend this to fans of m/m and yaoi who do not mind dark, problematic content and enjoy extreme (often unrealistic) Dominance and Submission fantasies. There are aspects fetishized shame and humiliation in how Akihito struggles with being sexual aroused while be sexual abuse and feeling emotionally attached to Asami. Not to mention a fair bit of straight up, stylized, bondage.
Again this isn't for the faint of heart and anyone who has issues with reading/looking at graphic depictions of rape or sexual abuse SHOULD NOT READ THIS BOOK.

BOW THE FUCK DOWN TO THE SEXIEST MAN EVER PUT INTO ANY MANGA!!
Once upon a time, I found a raw scanlation website and stared at the beautiful images of this manga until my eyes bled shoujo-sparkles. And then one night, I finally found the translated version and fell the fuck in love all over again.
This manga is the perfect yaoi. PERFECT
Ryuichi Asami is the most badass seme I have ever had the pleasure of reading after fourteen years of yaoi. He is a fucking flawless, composed boss with piercing eyes and one hell of a body. He is not to be fucked with, and he will make sure absolutely nothing stands in his way of keeping Takaba Akihito safe.
And speaking of Takaba Akihito.
Fucking beautiful. Takaba might be a damsel, but he will make damn sure he's not useless, especially to Asami. He will go through anything, no matter how humiliating or painful, and will swallow his pride for his man. He's the good-hearted nature that Asami is missing. He keeps that man happy, and they complete each other.

Mi journey con Finder empieza en el 2020, amo con locura esta serie aunque vol tras vol este sufriendo a morir!!!😭El único momento de "tranquilidad" fue cuando se reencontraron y afianzaron su relación!!! Me dan ganas de reread it pero es mucho dolor en el vol. 11 y el inicio del vol 12 me dejó devastada. Me encanta la pareja secundaria y en ocasiones siento que la amo más que la principal pero al final del día todos son mis bebés 🖤

Whew! Now that's how you get hooked on mangas! This series is super sexy, not to mention; addictive. I can't stop reading it! And let's not forget the gorgeous visuals of Asami and Takaba together. *Drools*
If you think THAT sounds dangerous(ly hot), just wait until he's caught in the crosshairs of not one, not two, but THREE rival factions, all headed by men who are as ruthless as they are sexy. Did I mention that they've also got quite a lot of unresolved sexual tension going on?
Uhm, admittedly I'm being 100% politically incorrect here, but I found the "interactions" (wink, wink) between Asami, his Chinese rival; Fei Long and Takara; the innocent reporter both hilarious and hot AF. Apparently, I find dangerous stalkers sexy;-)
And yes, they're all well endowed... ;-)
There's is, however, so much more to the Viewfinder series than just mindless sex. While I do read it for the gloriously naked guys, it's the story that keeps me coming back for more.
Not for the faint of heart, though. This series stars out with non-con, but it grows to so much more. (So please don't drag me off for therapy. I may be kinky, but I'm not THAT twisted;-))

They yboth go through a lot of things, since going as a pleasure toy, an acquaintance, a trusted person, and moving slowly to a lover, with all the shenaningans of each one.
Akito ( the journalist) goes as far as being kidnapped by his enemies, while his lover would go through hell and back in order to get him back and then would do the impossible to make him feel better and never losing him from his sight.
I just LOVED IT

I don't quite get the fervent love for this series (unless it's the uncensored genitals?), but I'm willing to give it another volume to see if I can figure it out.

Cih. Sebenernya saya enggan nge-review buku BL yang gak saya suka. Ini semacam keterpaksaan karena saya ikutan 30-Day Book Challenge dan merasa terlalu frontal kalo saya nulis review ini mentah-mentah di FB -_-
Jadi, saya sengaja nulis review-nya di sini, baru dikasih link-nya via FB. Seenggaknya temen-temen saya yang gak mau baca dan liat (karena takut matanya kebakar baca review penuh kevulgaran dan hinaan ini :v ) jadi bisa merasa aman :v *semoga*
Review di bawah ini bakal jadi sangat frontal dan tanpa pemanis, juga vulgar. Semua ini sifatnya subjektif, opini pribadi. Saya gak peduli orang-orang menganggap seri ini bagus, saya udah ketok palu.
Saya gak ngerti kenapa Viewfinder ini disebut-sebut sebagai BL terbaik, bahkan sampe ada campaign supaya versi english-nya diterbitkan ulang. Saya cek di GR dan berbagai situs mangascan, rating VF ini selalu hampir di atas 4,3 dari 5 bintang. Tinggi banget ya?
Keterlaluan tinggi buat cerita dengan plot nge-loop tanpa perkembangan berarti dengan dua karakter utama sangat dull dan super menjengkelkan.

Saya pernah mengutarakan pendapat saya--yang memang agak frontal ini--ke beberapa temen: bahwa buku-buku BL itu kebanyakan sampah.
Iya, SAMPAH. Cuma segelintir doang yang bagus.
Dan pendapat saya itu sampai sekarang gak berubah.
Padahal saya sendiri demen BL--tapi cuma sudi ngakuin yang segelintir selain sampah-sampah itu.
Si Viewfinder ini, termasuk dalam golongan "BL sampah" bagi saya. Dan makin sampah bagi saya karena banyak yang suka.
Pertama, uke-nya super bikin dongkol dengan tindakan-tindakan nekat dan gak pake otak itu! Udah tau dia berhadapan dengan mafia/yakuza, bisa-bisanya seceroboh itu! Berkali-kali kepergok, berkali-kali diculik, berkali-kali di-rape, berkali-kali cuma bisa nunggu diselametin si seme. WTH... SUPER GAK BERGUNA. Dan bisa-bisanya dia nangisin rapist-nya (inget bagian dia diculik si mafia China dan nangis karena denger masalah si bos mafia China dengan si seme)!! Gue kira yang nangisin musuh zaman sekarang cuman ada di shonen manga ala-ala Naruto gitu. Ternyata di BL picisan gini pun masih populer tokoh nyebelin dan terlalu angelic... errr bego, lebih tepat.
Saya sering baca komen para fansnya bilang: Uke-nya kuat! Saya suka uke kuat dan ga gampang menyerah kayak gini!

Plotnya pun A BIG FAILED ONE. Manga ini diawali dengan si uke (maap, lupa namanya, ga penting soale) di-rape si seme (nah, gue inget namanya Asami) yang adalah seorang petinggi yakuza, pake iket-iketan segala pulak--viva fanservice!!! \O/\O/\O/
Udah dibebasin, si uke malah cari gara-gara lagi dengan si seme (alasannya "balas dendam"!! WTH WTF WTA WTS WTB graooooghygdywediuqw!! Balas dendam tapi kagak pake otak, bodong besar tau!!), sesuai dugaan, dia akhirnya ketangkep untuk kedua kalinya dan si uke ditawan lagi dan "diranjangin" *si Gie udah bosen kebanyakan pake kata rape* lagi sama si seme plus menerima sexual abusing.
Gak lama setelah itu muncul bos mafia China berambut panjang dan super cantik (yang namanya juga saya udah lupa). Dia musuhnya si seme. Si uke tau-tau dengan mudahnya diculik sama dia dan (lagi-lagi) disiksa di ranjang si bos mafia China sampe bedarah-darah!!!

Mana tiap kali terlibat masalah, entah kenapa musuhnya selalu membalas dengan "nyerang" pan**t si uke. WTH... cowok kalau marahan tuh biasanya diselesaikan dengan jotos-jotosan kan? Entah kenapa hal itu sama sekali gak berlaku di seri ini. Semua tokoh cowok mendadak cuma napsu sama si uke.

Cih. Sebenernya saya enggan nge-review buku BL yang gak saya suka. Ini semacam keterpaksaan karena saya ikutan 30-Day Book Challenge dan merasa terlalu frontal kalo saya nulis review ini mentah-mentah di FB -_-
Jadi, saya sengaja nulis review-nya di sini, baru dikasih link-nya via FB. Seenggaknya temen-temen saya yang gak mau baca dan liat (karena takut matanya kebakar baca review penuh kevulgaran dan hinaan ini :v ) jadi bisa merasa aman :v *semoga*
Review di bawah ini bakal jadi sangat frontal dan tanpa pemanis, juga vulgar. Semua ini sifatnya subjektif, opini pribadi. Saya gak peduli orang-orang menganggap seri ini bagus, saya udah ketok palu.
Saya gak ngerti kenapa Viewfinder ini disebut-sebut sebagai BL terbaik, bahkan sampe ada campaign supaya versi english-nya diterbitkan ulang. Saya cek di GR dan berbagai situs mangascan, rating VF ini selalu hampir di atas 4,3 dari 5 bintang. Tinggi banget ya?
Keterlaluan tinggi buat cerita dengan plot nge-loop tanpa perkembangan berarti dengan dua karakter utama sangat dull dan super menjengkelkan.

This rating and review are for all of the completed series.
Read it because one comment I read on Twitter that say someone is not a real fujoshi if she never read Viewfinder. Feels my Fujoshi pride being attacked (lol), I finally search it online and read its mangascan, wondering what's so good about this story many of my (fujoshi) friends seems to love it.
And well, yeah, it's good, but not what I expect it.
First, the artwork is supebly splendid, enough to make me eyegasm just at the sight of Asami (YOU one hell of sexy man, you damn ASAMI!) and the fanservice is good, if not loads of it (Asami topless showoffs his drool-worthy six-packs, anyone?). The story's actually pretty good, too, with yakuza theme (and again HOT yakuza boss involves here).
Butbutbut, somehow I feel this story still held yaoi manga stereotypes so strictly. Tall and dark seme (not that I mind, tho), and a helpless, lean and lusty-body-owner uke that always need to get his ass swapped, and rape-turned-to-love storyline.
At early chapters, before the Hong Kong arc, I was happy to see Akihito so badass and seems like he can handle himself. But then, kidnapping after kidnapping begin and I feel Akihito's character become less and less powerful. He was just like, just screaming for Asami to come. He's more and more weak and submissive during his time under Fei Long surfeilance. And when he finally reunited with Asami, BANG! Drama ensues. The hot sex afterward make it up, though.
So yeah, it's good and eyes-heaven (ASAMI!) but still makes me bored with all of the long-dragging drama and angst. Akihito, stop being a whore and whine about it later! You can only be one, not both!

NOTE: This is the rating for the whole manga so far (in progress) because I don't really pay attention to volumes and etc.
Okay, there seems to be this thing in Yaoi where they can't seem to have consensual sex the first time round. Maybe it's just the ones I read, but honestly? And in this case it's not even sex with love later on.
These men are pretty fucked, and they need to get their shit (and themselves) together. Finally.
And the beep is with Takara? He's so stupid, reckless, useless and not as hot as Asami. And yet, everyone wants to fuck him. It's like a Mary Calmes novel all over again, except, they don't even like him. He just 'tempts' them.

Sigh. In all seriousness, it's quite a good read, involving lots of non-consensual to dubious-consensual sex, and some probably-consensual sex (though fucking Takara will never admit it). I am just very frustrated with it. The plot is.. Well I'm not sure there is even a main plot except to get those two together, but there are some interesting back stories I want to learn, and also some shippings that I want sailed.

Ok, alright, oh I see where this is going.
I've never read a manga before and I've never had a desire to either, however a colleague of mine found this book lying about our work and said that I should read it. I took it, it sat on my shelf for a few months in the wrapper, I unwrapped it this morning and realised that manga is PORN, and I'm ok with that, haha... I had no idea it would be so pornographic, and rather extremely pornographic too. I don't even really remember the story besides something about a young photographer spying on a criminal, the crim finds out about it and then kidnaps the photographer, then he proceeds to use him as a sex slave and do lots of extreme sex stuff, and I'm pretty sure they fall in love somewhere in the middle, Stockholm Syndrome much? It was a fun read, I don't know if I'm going to source out the rest of the series in a hurry but it was good for a laugh and an interesting introduction to manga.

I don't even really remember the story besides something about a young photographer spying on a criminal, the crim finds out about it and then kidnaps the photographer, then he proceeds to use him as a sex slave and do lots of extreme sex stuff, and I'm pretty sure they fall in love somewhere in the middle, Stockholm Syndrome much? It was a fun read, I don't know if I'm going to source out the rest of the series in a hurry but it was good for a laugh and an interesting introduction to manga.

2.5 stars. This first volume is still very rough with alot of non con scenes. The only way I was able to stomach the first few chapters was thinking of them as BDSM CNC scenes. I'm hoping things between the main couple soften as the story goes on. I heard rumors that it does. 🖤 the art is extremely gorgeous and a highlight of the story. I didn't care for the unconnected 2 chapters with throw away characters. The extra bonus chapter was surprisingly kinky and fluffy. More of that please.

Warning: this has dub-con/non-con and its kinky! The characters are great though, Takara is a little spitfire. . . the artwork is just freaking FINE. Plus its hot.
