Billy Graham's now legendary first New York Crusade in 1957 was a touchstone that affected an entire generation. Nearly fifty years later, the Reverend Billy Graham returned to New York in June 2005 for what was likely his final Crusade, preaching the power of God's love to hundreds of thousands of people over three life-changing evenings.
Living in God's Love contains all three sermons from this important event, and includes an original introduction and an afterword both written by Billy Graham specifically for this book. Living in God's Love also features black-and-white photographs from the 2005 New York Crusade, and a moving foreword by his daughter Anne Graham Lotz.
Billy Graham's message of the transforming power of Christ's love is one that is needed now more than ever.
Billy Graham was an American evangelical Christian evangelist and an ordained Southern Baptist minister. Graham is best known for his evangelistic missions or “Crusades.” He believed God knew no borders or nationalities. Throughout his career, Graham preached to millions around the world. He met and prayed with every U. S. president from Dwight Eisenhower to Barack Obama.
Graham authored 34 books, including his memoir, Just As I Am. In 1983, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Ronald Reagan. In 1996, Graham and his wife, Ruth, received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest award Congress can bestow on a private citizen.
Graham married Wheaton College classmate Ruth Bell Graham in 1943. They had five children ( Ruth Graham, Gigi Graham Tchividjian, Anne Graham Lotz, Nelson, & Franklin Graham) and made their home in the mountains of North Carolina. They were married for 64 years before Ruth’s death in 2007. Graham died from natural causes on February 21, 2018, at his home in Montreat, North Carolina, at the age of 99.
Since 2012, I have loved the preaching ministry of Billy Graham. It has been sometime since I’ve read or listening to him, but reading through this account of his final New York City Crusade blessed me.
As always, I appreciate the clarity and simplicity in which Graham brings forth the gospel.
Living in God’s Love The New York Crusade was a transcript of his three sermons preached at his last crusade in New York in 2005. It interested me that the messages were so simple. He’d provide scripture, tell some stories, and state that the people needed Jesus. He’d have an invite to accept Jesus and they’d accept. I enjoyed this book and look forward to learning more about Billy Graham. Very quick read that I would recommend.
A very, very light read. Because it is a series of short transcribes of the sermons during Billy Graham's crusades, it was easy to crunch thru the book within an hour. Content-wise, it didn't make an impact on me as much as his other books did.
This book can be read in an hour! It's ok. It gives us a look at Billy's last crusade in 2005. I've been a fan from my early years perhaps from his first crusades and his books. This book is a tribute to his last years!
Nothing groundbreaking but three simple messages preached by Billy Graham in his last crusade. Yet, they were good and I was glad I took time to read it.
The book is basically a record of Billy Graham’s final crusade in New York in 2005. The book contains transcripts of 3 sermons given over 3 days. The messages are brief, but timely.
“Children, how hard is it to enter the Kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Jesus
Rev. Graham's last crusade in New York City was a memorable one. Within this book, are three very good sermons that everyone should have in their Billy Graham collection or simply to just buy and read. To talk about each one, would give the message away. But each is powerful as we have become accustomed to by Rev. Graham through the years.
A quick read for me. I enjoyed it but I think I would have rather just heard the sermon. I'm trying to read other types of books this year and although it was good I don't think I would reread it so I pasted it on for another to hear his word
