Ok, I laughed out loud at this Little Golden Book. Published in 1979, there are far more words than most picture books today.

The large, growly bear starts his day trying to scare someone with his big growl. None of the forest friends he encounters have time to be frightened which annoys the bear. When he finally finds someone to frighten, it is a really cute end to a fun story.

This is the first book I remember reading by myself as a little girl and knowing that I was actually reading the words instead of just having it memorized from having Gramma read it to me. Gramma used to take me to the library in Bozeman, and I always wanted to check out this book. Growing up, I lost track of it and couldn't find it again. I even began to wonder if it was just a dream and the book didn't really exist. Any time I visited a book store, any time I was looking at books online, I'd look for The Large and Growly Bear and could never find it. While online at the library one day, I typed the title into the Barnes & Noble Used Book search engine, absent-mindedly expecting "no results" again. Instead, there he was. The Large and Growly Bear stared back at me from the computer screen. I cried as I ordered the book, and I cried again when I received it and read it again. And Gramma and I both cried when I told her this story.

My grandparents gave me this book when I was a kid and it was one of my favorites. I still love a line from it to this day, “Oh, my paws and claws”! 😆

this is got to be one of the best kids book there ever was! they should remake the book and start selling it again but the lady who made it is prabably dead so i don't know about copr rights and stuff. its about a bear who goes around rying to scare people but they don't get scared so he decides to scare the fish and scares himself in the reflection its funny very comical. :)
