This is the fourth book (out of five) that I've read in the "Everygirls" series by Goldsmith Publishing Company, but I think it was my least favorite. The story line was great, but the writing was just "meh".
Although all of the characters were likable and the Shaw family itself was sweet, I felt so disconnected from them. I was reading the words and following them along on their adventures through their home town of Winton, Vermont, but it just felt very flat to me.
I wanted very much to love this book, so it was disappointing to find I just didn't care very much at the end. Also, I kept confusing the daughters Patience (who sometimes goes by the name Patty) and Pauline (who usually goes by the name Paul) and that annoyed me. I also wondered why the girls called their father "Father", but called their mother, "Mother Shaw".
I'm not sure I would read this book again, but it had a number of helpful tips on how to live life (if you are a girl just starting out) that I thought were valuable. Looking forward to reading the last book in the series next!
