The Secrets of the People Whisperer : Using the Art of Communication to Enhance Your Own Life, and the Lives of Others

Rate this book
Perry Wood learned the true art of communication in the most unforgiving of situations: standing in front of a half ton of agitated, hypersensitive horse. In Secrets of the People Whisperer, he shows how the same techniques for developing trust and understanding with a horse can work equally well in one's personal, business, family, and romantic relationships.

Proving the timeless axiom "actions speak louder than words," Secrets of the People Whisperer explains how to be a highly skilled communicator who sends and receives messages that are far more powerful than mere speech. The author's unique methods allow one to clearly relate to and positively influence another person for the mutual benefit of both parties. Finally, the author reveals how mastering this deeper way of communicating improves virtually all aspects of one's life, from more fruitful work relationships to personal relationships that are open, loving, and trusting.

This volume is an uneven blend of crap, superstition, and valid observation. So, yea, some of it is interesting, but I'd say there are far better books on listening or communication.

Perry Wood, a horse whisperer, turned his attention to doing the same for people when he noticed that his increasing finesse in training horses was having an effect on those humans that he interacted with. He begins with readers learning more about themselves, then extending those techniques to those around them and then to the universe.

The book is well thought out with teaching, then exercises to practice and nicely interlaced with examples in practice using mental, emotional, spiritual insights. It can be a quick read or a workbook to aid in self-improvement and in bettering relationships and the world around you.

Can't wait to read this one- Working with Horses has taught me so many wonderful lessons that I apply to other parts of my life...I'm interested to read what he has to say.
Read it...loved it! Wonderful insights to build relationships, and it's all about what you choose to do with you. He teaches quite a bit of "energy" theory, which was a pleasant surprise, but makes sense if he works with horses, etc. Very applicable information, and may come from a different angle than most have heard before. Well done.

I think a good book for basic concepts of awareness and communication. I ended up skimming through it and returning it to the library unfinished.
