The cake is baked, the party hats are on, her friends have just arrived . . . and now it’s time for Lulu’s birthday party! Caroline Uff's Lulu books are ideal for introducing children to those exciting first experiences that make up the important events in every childhood.
This book was a delightful little read. Even the typography is fun and cleverly fits in with the story, such as it is. The book is extremely simple, as are the fitting illustrations, and ending is a bit abrupt. It's sweet and engrossing, though, as a book for such small children should be. The inclusion of the small detail of Lulu's birthday present being a Noah's Ark playset was a brilliant touch. I wish toys were so elaborate and creative.
Nora cannot get enough of this book. We don't actually own it but we get it from the library about every other visit. The pictures are very appealing to little ones and Nora loves anything birthday related.
