When Pollyanna's farther dies, she goes to live with her Aunt, Miss Polly Harrington. Miss Harrington likes doing good, but she doesn't like children very much! Pollyanna always tries to find the good in everything. She soon makes many different people in her new home feel happier. But is Miss Polly's life going to change for better or worse after her niece arrives? And what happens to Pollyanna when she has a very bad accident?

The full length book of Pollyanna has approx 288 pages; this 56 page highly abridged version is even shorter than it appears as there are several pages of comprehension questions scattered through the book (which jar with such a short account). The only thing I liked about this abridged version was introducing the 'glad game' to Miss 5. The story itself felt horribly awkward as there is so much back story in the adult relationships being crammed in and Pollyanna's friendship with an adult male living alone feels horribly inappropriate in today's day and age (not helped by how heavily abridged the text is).

Miss 5 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

The book "Pollyanna" is really enjoyable. Pollyanna is so kind and sweet and innocent even after her parents's death. She's really positive and she never gave up on anything she wanted. 5/5

I like the story. It is clearly that the story was written a long time ago. It is good to read to improve my English but that's all.
