Introductory information about China in an ABC format. Basic information for the most part, but there were a few facts that were new to me. Great for early elementary.

As far as an informative ABC book on Chinese people and places this book was a huge disappointment. Illustrations were too simplistic to capture the word for the letter presented and some of the ideas slanted in favor of a certain political stance. I even looked in the book for references author made in writing the book and it appears that there were only two sources listed, both from the same city. Just disappointing. Half a star, really.

This book is about China and it is about the people and places of China and icons that are associated with China. This book also contains an interesting glossary about words that will really help younger students that might be unfamiliar with some of the words. This book would be great to use during multicultural month when students will learn about all people that helped shape up America to the country it is today.

This book is so outdated about china. Published in 2004 it reads like a book published in 1970: "B for bicycles -- very few people in China can afford to buy a car. " Well, apparently there are too many cars in china which generated the smog problem. In addition, including disputes on political events and the authors' personal taste of ideology is inappropriate for a children's book.

This book explores China's people, animals, plants, geography, history, and culture using the alphabet. Every letter of the alphabet has one of these elements from China attached to it.
Would be a useful in a younger classroom to expose them to the culture of China.

Breaking up country information by alphabet letters keeps every fact short enough to keep a preschooler interested and introduces several things that are unique and important to the culture.
